Bauer named Pac-10 pitcher of the week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA junior right-hander Trevor Bauer has earned Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honors for the fourth time in his career, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Bauer logged career highs with 17 strikeouts in 10 innings last Saturday in a 2-1, 12-inning loss at Nebraska.
Bauer limited Nebraska to one run and four hits through 10 innings and did not record a decision. He eclipsed his previous career-high 15 strikeouts, notching his 11th career game with at least 10 strikeouts. Bauer's 17-strikeout effort came in 33-degree weather at Nebraska's Haymarket Park in Lincoln, Neb.
Last season, he secured Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honors after setting a then-career-high with 15 strikeouts in UCLA's 5-2 win over Mississippi State at the Whataburger College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas (March 13, 2010). As a freshman in 2009, he was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the week after a complete game shutout against Washington (April 18, 2009) and after earning two victories in one week (March 31, 2009).
Through his first three starts this season, Bauer has recorded a team-best 33 strikeouts and 11 walks in a team-leading 24.1 innings. The right-hander from Valencia, Calif., has gone 1-1 with a 1.85 ERA, limiting the opposition to a .171 batting average.
UCLA returns to action against Georgia at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Friday in the second annual Dodgertown Classic presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California. Game time is 6 p.m. UCLA will face Saint Mary's on Saturday at 2 p.m. (at Jackie Robinson Stadium), before taking on USC at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance for the game at Dodger Stadium this Sunday. Tickets purchased in advance from UCLA's Central Ticket Office cost $5, while tickets bought in advance from Ticketmaster or at Dodger Stadium cost $7. Day of game tickets at Dodger Stadium will cost $12. Parking is free at Dodger Stadium.
I live in Kansas City and drove and spent two days in Lincoln watching the final two games.Bauer was a man amoung boys, UCLA starting pitching was unreal, can't say much for the bullpen. Bauer warming up throwing from one foul pole to the other on the fly as I walked in, blew me away...HAVE TO SEE IT YOURSELF. UCLA left the bats at home, because the starting pitching did not get much support from anybody. Nebraska wanted more than UCLA did, so they got the wins.
