Cantlay's day

| | Comments (6) |

Patrick Cantlay finished with a 4-over 75 after an impressive start with a birdie on the 10th, a difficult starting hole.
``I started on a good note and struggled the rest of the day,'' Cantlay said. ``I couldn't get anything going. I drove it weird, too.''
As in, he wasn't hitting in the fairways per usual.

Jill,

We appreciate your efforts, but seriously, nobody here cares about Golf or the post season Baseball awards. The majority of your audience here would agree that we would rather hear about some FB or BB recruiting scoops. We have heard NOTHING. How about a piece on the upcoming UCLA FB Summer camps. Who is attending? Who might get offers? Who might commit?

I disagree that no one cares about Golf. I care about anything UCLA related. My understanding is that Jill is at the tournament anyway, and as a favor to us she's tracking a UCLA player. This isn't exactly her beat, so I appreciate any work she does on our behalf outside of her personal responsibilities.

There aren't not necessarily FB and BB recruiting scoops to be had all the time, and even if there are things Jon is missing, maybe the paper simply doesn't pay him to follow it that closely? If you want a higher degree of recruiting scoopage, maybe you should pay for a recruiting subscription.

I may be the only one, but I appreciate the updates. Patrick Cantlay is amazing and will be big after he leaves UCLA. We are lucky he is a Bruin and it would be nice to actually support him while he is here with us (along with other non-revenue sports that often don't get as much coverage but do UCLA proud). Yes, basketball and football are big sports, but they aren't the only ones...

Agreed. I'd like to hear about each and every round of Cantlay's. Hopefully he can regroup today and make it to the weekend.
