Gerrit Cole / Trevor Bauer Quotes Pt. 7
Assorted quotes from Pirates GM Neal Huntington, Pirates Director of Scouting Greg Smith and No. 1 pick Gerrit Cole and No. 3 pick Trevor Bauer:
Bauer: "It's really a credit to Coach Savage and his recruiting and his knowledge about pitching. Without him, neither of us would've been drafted that high. He's taught me and Gerrit a whole lot in our time at UCLA. I picked up countless amounts of knowledge."
Bauer: "I didn't expect to be playing today. I thought we'd be done yesterday and moving on. That was our expectation moving into regional. After Friday, I hoped we'd be playing today, was very confident we'd be playing today. Today is definitely a little bittersweet. Today is a very individual day and yesterday was a team day, and I wish today was a team day.
Bauer on replacing his hat: "I'm sure I'll have to, even if I stay with the same organization for my entire career, I don't know if the hat can last 20 or 25 years in the big leagues, and I hope to be there that long."
Bauer on what he's doing with his UCLA hat: "I think the UCLA hat is being put in the scrapbook."

Hey Gold, it looks like no one who reads this blog gives a crap about ucla baseball. Two comments on eight entries. Nice...
Yeah, I know. But I'm out there, so I might as well give it all I've got, coach.
I doubt that Jon Gold really envies Wolf for the foul and vulgar sparring that dominates the comments sections of Wolf's blog. Take away the fights between NOBS and the various Bruin trolls, and Wolf's blog would be quiet most days.
Personally, I find that stuff entertaining, but from what I've seen, Jon doesn't seem to enjoy seeing his blog turn into wildwestsports.com (aka the infamous "Green Board"). Meanwhile, over at Wolf's blog, some guy is using the handle "obama the jew hater". It's getting to be like the old ECW over there.
WR - you are correct. wolf's blog is basically out of hand. Entertaining for while but it gets old. You need to find a happy medium. I am sure Mr. Gold prefers his blog to be the run the way it is, but it could use a little spice now and then.
T70: Maybe what this blog needs is a USC fan creating multiple "characters" to taunt UCLA fans, as self-proclaimed Bruin fan Charlie Bucket has done over on Wolf's blog. For my money, the most entertaining stuff on Wolf's blog is "Jethro Sabbath" trying to figure out which handles are all being written by the same guy. I have tried to assist him with his investigation, but he won't listen.
