Hundley anxiously awaits return
Perhaps no Bruin is looking forward to Monday's practice - the team takes today off - as much as freshman quarterback Brett Hundley. The second-rated quarterback recruit in the country, Hundley has missed all of fall camp after surgery to repair an injured meniscus. With Kevin Prince and Richard Brehaut entrenched in a tough battle, Hundley knows he might have missed too much time to catch up.
"It's going to be hard," Hundley said. "I just pray for patience. When I get my shot I'm going to take it and not look back, but I have to wait."

I am really hoping Hundley can redshirt. UCLA does not need him this year but does need him to learn the position.
It would be nice to think Hundley won't be needed, especially considering his injury recovery. But he did not leave high school early only to redshirt, and the knee -- thankfully -- was a fairly routine cleanup. It seems as if his emergence only strengthens this position, including the starting battle for it. I believe it could still be his by Pac-12 play, possibly even leading us into a better bowl game. The kid is THAT good. And KP and RB will have no one to blame if they don't secure the spot early themselves, as Houston & San Jose State are perhaps the most swiss cheese of all Div. I defenses.
