Neuheisel feeling no pressure to name starter

| | Comments (11) |

Rick Neuheisel will name a starting quarterback early next week, he said, but he's not feeling the heat to name one. Been through this a time or two, eh? Even though he said he might use two quarterbacks, one of them has to start the season opener.
``I'll play with that in my own mind,'' Neuheisel said. ``I don't have any real feeling of urgency with respect to that. Both have started. Both have played.''
He did say he would name a starter early in the week so that it's not ''uncomfortable for anybody.''

In other words, CRN has no idea what he's going to do. Great.

Your job is on the line and you feel no sense of urgency to not repeat what you did last year and leave your QB's hanging?

Quit being so dramatic.

Whoever it is will be on a short leash anyway, so why does it really matter whether Rick says one guy or the other is "our guy"? God forbid that Rick Neuheisel wants BOTH qbs to prepare as if they will receive playing time....

If KP and RB don't like the situation, maybe one of them should have stepped up and claimed the job outright through their preparation and performance in camp.

RB, RB, RB, RB, RB, RB, RB, RB, Please!!!

in other words, CRN wants to say it's Prince but he can't because of the backlash because Prince hasn't earned it. Brehaut has consistently been sharper in practice as reported by the LA Times, OC Register, Daily News, Daily Bruin, etc. Just like last year and previous years when there's no true competition and the same guys play over and over. Last year was a farce with Prince getting no practice due to injury but still showing up on gameday to start and then going 5 for 20 for 25 yards.

I have to think Anon is right on this one. I think Neu wants Prince. He knows RB has been better and is going to be the fan favorite. He doesn't want to name Prince the starter while RB continues to outperform him. He'd look like an idiot.

I personally like that Rick hasn't named a starter. I fear, if he had named a starter, it would've been Prince and Brehaut wouldn't get any time with the 1's. This way, we will have 2 quarterbacks ready to play.

Huh? What? Neuheisel knows who the better QB is but purposely wants to start the second best guy?? Yeah, that makes plenty of sense.

Hmmm, let's see. Prince has won @Tennesse, @ Texas and on the road in a Bowl Game (effetively a roadie for the Bruins against Temple in DC). Brehaut has never won a road game. If I'm a coach on the hot seat, I know who I'm starting. Prince's problems have been when hasn't been healthy enought to practice. If he practices all week, he should start. However, if he's not healthy enough to practice, he's not a viable option, as we saw last year. So if he misses one practice, bench him.
