Powell suffers concussion, day-to-day

From UCLA:

Norman Powell, a UCLA freshman guard, suffered a concussion at a men’s basketball workout on Tuesday, Sept. 27 and received three staples in his forehead to close a small cut. He was driving the lane when he was struck with an accidental elbow by a teammate. He is listed as day-to-day and is being monitored daily.

WESTWOOD (AP)-Norman Powell became the first student in NCAA history hired to be his school’s defensive coordinator when UCLA announced the sudden move on Friday.
Perhaps even more surprising was the announcement that he takes the full reigns of the job for Saturday’s big Pac-12 tilt at Stanford.
“I really liked his intensity, even minus helmet and pads,” CRN said at a hastily-rigged media conference outside of Pauley Pavillion. “Hell, I figured I was going down this season anyways, so I this was my best desparate attempt to spice things up.
“He’s never played football before, but, well … most of our defense is playing like that now anyways.”
CRN pointed to blood stains still trailing out of the vaunted gym.
“We’ve got to sweat. We’ve got to hurt. We’ve got to spill blood to turn things around,” CRN said. “I like the kid so much, especially his vertical game, that I may even turn the offense over to him, too.”

  • UCLA of the Rockies, that was great. Lmao.
