Offensive defensive stats

A year after ranking 94th nationally out of 120 teams in total defense and 86th in scoring defense - a performance that resulted in the firing of both defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough and defensive line coach Todd Howard - the Bruins have falled even farther.
After affording Arizona 573 total yards - including 254 on the ground, despite the Wildcats being ranked 119th in rushing yards oer game - UCLA currently ranks 106th in total defense (436.1 yards per game) and 108th in scoring defense (34.43).
"The other night we got pushed off the line of scrimmage," Neuheisel said. "We have to make sure we get our pads down and get off the ball."
Neuheisel also added that poor tackling by the safeties and coverage by the cornerbacks allowed the Wildcats to gain 6.4 yards per play and score on their first six possessions.

So, how low can you go?
CRN is now falling into the sack of shit category for calling any player or group of players out right now but his own self or his OC and DC.
Knowing that he has already been fired and is just finishing out on lame duck status, the best CRN can do is just shut his pie-hole if it's not positive.
That is, until he cuts loose with the mother-of-all fire up speeches when he announces his resignation before the USC game.
How bad is it?
Am not going to the game at Utah now. I simply won't take my son, picking a high school playoff game instead. My son even noted that the local high school seems to have better defensive schemes right now.
No, we'll wait until UCLA visits Colorado next year with a new head coach, new coordinators and hopefully, a culture of football that at least resembles what I remember before the 1998 debacle in Miami.

You don't want to take your kid to Folsom Field to see a game, the CU fans are absolutely brutal to the opposing fan base. Why pay $60 to sit in the far far corner with the blasting sound system only to be harassed by intoxicated idiots. Salt Lake will be a way more hospitable environment.

By the way your son is right, I've seen high school defensive scheme's play out much better than Treseys. No joke, I can't figure out how this cat got the job. Even at this point of the season he is willing to keep the DB's 10 yards back, give up the 5 yard pass that turn into 15 after the catch.

After the AZ debacle I'd relieve him now and replace him with anyone else on the coaching staff. I guess with Rick knowing the outcome, it just doesn't matter anymore.

I agree with all of the above, except having never been to a Colorado home game, I cannot state an opinion.

Rick sounds like such an A-Hole when he starts calling out players, this isn't new for him and I'm afraid it's probably worse in private meetings with Dan Guerrero. Dan is deaf to the voices of the alumni, fan base and media. That to me, is arrogant and mis-guided. We are the people who spend money going to home and away games, buying merchandise and proudly advertising the university by wearing Bruin gear in public. I guess as long as the money keeps coming in, there is no reason to change anything. At least, that is how it appears to be with Dan.

I hope the whole Rosebowl audience can voice their displeasure this Saturday. I'm afraid Cal is going to win by at least 21 this Saturday, though i will still be there. Oh, there's the results Dan was looking for. With Rick fully comitting to the run this Saturday and a defense ranked at the bottom, can anyone give a reason to think otherwise?

I found it funny how Rick stated after the game on Thursday that his offense isn't set up to be able to come back from deficits, all while knowing he gas a crappy defense. That kind of offensive game plan works if you have a stellar defense. Blind PIG!!!! Of course, he'll just blame the players; it's worked so far.

I honestly believe in nothing Neuheisel says anymore as he says the same damn things after every embarassing loss...it's called coach speak and it is the one thing coach neu does well...THE ONLY THING HE DOES WELL...

These players have brought SHAME to UCLA.

Bad players get hurt. Bad players get suspended. Bad players play with NO heart, no competitive drive, no winning attitude, no determination, no focus, and no will to win.

UCLA has too many bad players. UCLA loses because of bad players. They are uncoachable.

Rick probably has lost his job. Unfortunately, he turned out not to be the right coach for a team with so many bad players and high school level players.

We probably need a high school level coach to match the players we have and get.
