Rick Neuheisel on Brett Hundley

| | Comments (6) |

‎UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel was asked why he didn't play Brett Hundley against Arizona on the weekly conference call:

"I thought about (using him), but in that kind of game, I didn't think it was the right thing to do. If you decide to go to Brett hundley, you do it the rest of the time, or at least a package. I want to make sure he's ready for that. I want it to be a worthwhile venture. I'm not thinking about me, I'm thinking about him."

Finally did something right, don't burn the redshirt on a useless year. Don't want to destroy his confidence.

Sounds like Rick isn't expecting to be around next season...

Good move by the coach, not letting the desperate rumor surrounding his job security affect his decision-making.

He's doing what's best for the program, rather than panic and waste this guy's redshirt in a selfish and ill-fated attempt to save his career.

Thank You coach Neuheisel for not using Brett Hundley on Thursday night.
I still have faith in this Bruin team, I believe we will win more games than we lose
In the second half of the season....GO BRUINS

I agree with all of the above guys... unfortunately, I still think CRN is going to succumb to pressure and piss away his redshirt season at some point this year. :-(

I'm all for burning the redshirt, but Neuheisel absolutely made the right decision to leave him on the bench. While I think Hundley should start, if it's decided that Prince is the starter, Thursday's game was not the time to bring Hundley in. I also agree with Neu that once you go to Hundley, there's no looking back.
