Fairbairn, Westbrook commit to UCLA

| | Comments (8) |

UCLA picked up a verbal commitment in a position of need tonight as Punahou (HI) High kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn made the call around 6 p.m. Hawaiian time.

He is rated the No. 4 kicker in the country by Chris Sailer and joins Punahou teammate Steven Lakalaka, who verbally committed to UCLA earlier this year.

He joins Compton Dominguez OL Lacy Westbrook , who also verbally committed to UCLA on Wednesday night, and Trinity (Texas) High safety Laiu Moeakiola, who committed to UCLA on in late-October, to give the Bruins 15 commits.

Fairbairn is preparing for a "huge game" as he said, and we're scheduled to talk on Friday.

Here's some video of UCLA's recent commits:

I like Laiu instints...he gets low to hit, tackle. That's really important for a safety, considering the difficulty UCLA has had on defense with respects to tackling. Hopefully the culture is changing with some of the tackles the defense did vs. Cal. ASU...we'll see...

Jon the Westbrook commit is HUGE it's a great pick up. Does this hint at where Brandon Beaver might end up as well as Marsh? What do you think? And we were just at a stand still what is causing the sudden surge on the trail?

P.S. Love the blog thanks for the insight in advance

Fairburn looks like he could kick for the Bruins RIGHT NOW given their woes. Although Kip Smith has the 4th longest FG in high school football history, it was made in high altitude of Colorado. We see now how he's struggling in the "lowlands" of L.A.

Hard to believe he is Russell's younger brother.
And that Lacy Westbrook actually holds the family record for points scored in a 7th grade basketball game (46) ... one more than Russell.
