A little awkward.
Here's what Jim L. Mora had to say about UCLA interim head coach Mike Johnson:
"Mike Johnson and I coached together one year in Atlanta, and as I know you already know, I released Mike after that year and have since had a good relationship with Mike. We both matured in terms of our relationships with each other and I think we're on very good terms right now."
Johnson coached for Mora for two years, in 2004 and 2005, before being relieved of his duties.

Those ideas of MJ being retained with Mora seem a little less likely now.
After reading Mora's quote for a second time, it no longer seems awkward to me.
In any case, even though I have no particular qualms with Johnson's performance from last year, I would like us to seek out a true top-flight college OC especially since we apparently have the budget for it now. Mora is a defensive coach so he will need to rely heavily on someone he really trusts for the offense. No sense in asking him to compromise. This is his team now.
UCLA: Keep an eye on Sacramento Moutain Lions (UFL) wide receivers coach Charlie Collins. I hear Collins could be on his way to Los Angeles to work under Jim Mora Jr.
