Seriously?! Brehaut leaves us with no viable backup assuming Hundley won't burn his redshirt now. And Tony Dye burned his possible redshirt so that he could play only a couple of games--one of which he now is ineligible for? What is going on in Westwood???

Tony Dye wants to go pro, don't u ppl get it? He doesn't want to return next year! Wake up and smell the K-cup.

man... brehaut is so done. Here's his chance again to make a move on the team with a coordinator that he could fit with and a new coach and all he can talk about is baseball and then blows the team rules.

Any rumor as to what rule was broken by Brehaut?

Isn't it clear by now that Brehaut is not, and never has been the type of guy to lead a team (in a good way). I'm sure he can lead the team to O'haras, but not the Rose Bowl.

I truly cannot understand how any football player, dedicated to his sport, his team, his university, his teammates, his coaches, and to his family, would allow himself to purposely miss playing in a post-season bowl game. You're in school, keep up your grades! There are team rules, follow them! Show respect to the many, many people who have made your privileged situation possible.

Well, they're not going to burn Hundley's red-shirt for one mean-nothing game, so it's either going to be Darius Bell or Nick Crissman backing up Prince.

Looking at the roster, I see three other freshmen QBs besides Hundley: Christoph Bono (son of former UCLA QB Steve Bono), Max Heltzer, and Maxwell Schuh (a redshirt freshman). Do we really need to carry that many QBs in the same class? On second thought, I just remembered John Barnes was a fifth-string QB when he got the start against USC, so I guess you can never have too many quarterbacks.

As I have straight-called for years:

UCLA for the years has had a bunch of bad, irresponsible, bad-attitude, loser-attitude, lazy, spoiled, dumb-ass players. They are practically asleep at the start of games.

Coach Mora has to weed these yahoos out of the team.

Unfortunately, Neuheisel did not weed them out. He tried to be too nice of a guy. Nice guys lose their job.

Coach Mora has a much better hard-nosed attitude to do the necessary kicking needed by these players.

I am embarrassed for you guys.

CHEATON, your entire TEAM's ineligible.

Be embarrassed for yourself.

It's not the players, its the attitude of the coaches that dictates the attitude of the players. All of this bullshit hopefully dies along with the old regime.

Sadly, recruiting via junior college is a quick hole-plug at best and, often times, not even that (read: Alberto Cid). Getting out of this cycle by recruiting better preps -- and hopefully, more from SoCal -- will only help stabilize the program.

Clearly none of you have ever talked to Brehaut. He doesn't want to play football anymore. His true passion is baseball. He wasn't planning on coming back next season anyway. Talk to his family

Bruin Gold said:

it is good that Brehaut is going to is actual passion - baseball.

If football is not your passion then you don't belong on the UCLA football team. Period.

Just as UCLA Basketball got better from the subtraction of a talented but heartless player, UCLA Football will get better from subtracting the players who can't give their heart and soul to football.

You cannot be a monster player if you cannot give your whole heart to the sport. You cannot be a winning player if you cannot give your whole heart to the sport.

UCLA has had too many players who did not have a passion for football. You can yell at them until you are blue in the face. But they just can't get themselves excited about playing the game. You saw it in every game last year. It was so sad to see. We need to weed these players out.

We need players that can go all-in. No part-timers.

I've heard more about Brehaut's family than any other Bruin I can remember. I'm sick of it. Somebody tell Bre's family to take a hike. I don't want to talk to them or hear from them ever again. This isn't youth soccer. Parents get lost.

IMHO, Brehaut wants to be a professional athlete. Baseball or football. Does not matter. Why not get paid to play baseball and go back to college for football if baseball does not work out. Just like Weeden. If you're Brehaut, why not give it a shot?

Coach Mora needs to dump all of these guys and make room for more of the type of recruits that he seems to be getting.Nick Crissman can substitute in the bowl and do better than Prince;he was better when he entered, but got hurt.If Bre violated team rules he needs to be dropped from the baseball team as well.

This news, along with the "Wall", are remaining flotsam from the Neuheisel era. Good riddance.

Any more doubts on why CRN went with Prince? Prince has character and leadership. Brehaut throws a nice ball and doesn't seem to commit to being a QB. He has 1 year left, and still wants to be a 2nd string catcher rather than go all out to be QB. Welcome to the Brett Hundley era.
