Fuller headlines second straight big recruiting weekend

| | Comments (13) |

Last weekend, UCLA hosted an impressive group of recruits.

This weekend, it's more of the same.

UCLA will host nine players for official visits including Scout.com's No. 3 quarterback, Devin Fuller.

Fuller has UCLA in his top four, along with Rutgers, TCU and Nebraska, and the Bruins can definitely make a big impression this weekend on one of the East coast's top prospects. You can bet that Jim Mora will highlight his time with Michael Vick as a major selling point, as well as UCLA's thin depth chart at the position going forward.

Scout profile has this quote by Fuller: “I’d say I’m like a Michael Vick-type quarterback. Mora might be able to pull this one off!!

Thanks Jon,
Are they recruiting Fuller as a QB or as an Athlete???

Getting impressive recruits to commit and getting them through admissions are two different things.

Wasn't Vick referred to a "coach killer" when under Mora by his dad?

Not coach killer...

...canine killer.

And then he found out that the juxtapostion of three measely letter separated Dog from God!

At least an aversion, if not a conversion from seeing pups as a sideline for wealth.

New Bruin Family - I am so sorry, I don't know what got over me back in NY. It won't happen again, I promise.

LOL at "Sal Alosi" trolling HARD AS HELL.

You get an A for effort (or at least for determination), but only a C- for creativity.

I'm sure this kid's great but have people forgotten about Hundley? And why would this qb want to come in behind Hundley who will still be a freshman next year?

909Bruin Author Profile Page said:

@Blur, He would want to come in behind Hundley because he'd be an injury away from being the starter. If you follow UCLA football at all then you know that the probability of a UCLA qb getting injured is very high.

Blur: Fuller might be the bomb and not worried about a little competition.

Also if he red shirts there is 1 year of separation, QBs get hurt all the time and he would definitely be 1 of the top 2 QBs on campus.

The Blur said:

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have him than not, but I see so many comments suggesting we're desperate to recruit a good qb when Hundley's been here all along.

As for injuries, yes, the backup's always one play away from being the starter. But crossing your fingers that the starter will get knocked out isn't a practical strategy for picking where you want to play ball. Furthermore, our qb's don't get hurt because they play at ucla - they get hurt because they shouldn't be in the pistol (which looks like it's dead anyway.)

Now, if this kid isn't afraid of a little competition, then bring it on. I love it.

We need a pipeline of great quarterbacks to get the football program back on track.

It would be great if we can get Fuller.

Even with Hundley, Fuller would be nice to bring in.
