The search continues
Last season, Rick Neuheisel's search for a defensive coordinator dragged on for week after week, the former UCLA head coach circling back to Joe Tresey.
Things are not moving much quicker this time around.
San Diego Chargers linebackers coach John Pagano was reported earlier this week to have accepted the UCLA defensive coordinator position, but he was promoted to the same position with the Chargers on Thursday after San Diego fired former defensive coordinator Greg Manusky.
New head coach Jim Mora said that he had hoped to have completed his staff shortly after the new year, but no announcements have been made, though sources have said that the Bruins are expected to bring in Seattle Seahawks assistant coach Jeff Ulbrich.
UCLA has locked up roughly half its staff, including offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone's, whose hiring has yet to be announced.
Just when u think things are looking up for the bruins another setback. I hope this doesn't drag out like the last DC search and i hope we have better results then that last bum tressy.
Everyone thought Norv Turner and company would he fired by the Chargers and Pagano would have been out of a job. He gets a promotion and now Mora is looking for a new DC.
Considering Mora is a defensive guy, I don't think this is as bad as if he couldn't get his first choice OC or get good recruiters.

I freaking hate Norv Turner. He has been ruining the Chargers for years and now he is directly hurting UCLA too. NOT COOL!
I'm with sd therapist - the defense is Mora's. This hire is equivalent to Norv's offensive coordinator (I'm a charger fan, too.) Obviously I hope we get a good guy, but I'm not losing sleep over this.

I hear the Canadian football league has a abundant of D-Coordinators available.
Mora's been around for a long time and knows a lot of great NFL D-Coordinators, I have no doubt he will bring in a good NFL guy for this position that the kids are going to love.
This year Mora turned down the DC jobs at Philadelphia and Denver. We already have a DC. I want Mora in charge of the D. He just needs two fat guys backing him up.
tell us something we don't know Jon. Who's the next in line for DC? Is it true that Mora is bringing Sal Alosi on as S&C coach? Yarber done deal yet? Come on man, earn that paycheck!
Read on ESPN this morning that Mazzone isn't coming not enough $$$.
By my count we are only a DC short. The others haven't been officially announced. That's a bit more than half Jon! We had a DC until yesterday afternoon when an NFL team fought back. Not exactly a sign of a slow pace. Good eye coach Mora. Let's get the right guy and build this thing for the long term.
I know Mora he'll just get someone better. There are some pretty good candidates still in season - NFL. From the staff so far I'm not worried. BTW I do NOT want Mora as DC also. Let him be HC of all three aspects - that's his job.

I don't think Holt is a bad hire...he basically compiled footage for Pete at SC and Pete made the game calls. He could do the same thing for CJM. Holt knows who UW was recruiting and knows how to recruit LA.
