Fun podcast with The Solid Verbal

I joined Dan Rubenstein of The Solid Verbal to talk UCLA football for a solid 43 minutes yesterday. Well 38 minutes of UCLA football and five minutes of the best cheeseburgers in LA. Here’s a link: The Solid Verbal

This was a GREAT LISTEN. Yes, all 43 minutes. Jon really opened up in this interview with some very insightful information that only a beat reporter around the program would know.

Very frank opinions. And Dan Rubenstein, who I’m not familiar with, was extremely prepared and asked great questions. Worth every bit of the 43-minute listen if you are a UCLA football fan. With a couple of minutes very late devoted to best cheeseburgers in L.A.

Great interview. I want a burger now, though.

Thank you for putting Apple Pan in it’s place. It isn’t that good of a burger (good pie though). Parking in the area sucks too. I’ll take a Fatburger, In n’ Out, or 5 Guys over Apple Pan.

What’s your thoughts on San Diego Burgers? I have Rocky’s Crown Point as my best. Hodad’s has a lot of bacon, but the pre-fab burger kills it for me.

  • Reformed Droog

SF Saloon’s Hickory Burger has got to be on that list…

HINANO’s in Venice at the end of Washington Blvd. Blows any corporate burger away, and I lovw my Fatburger and In-n-Out but no comparison

  • Tommy Boy

Tommy’s Burger at 2:00 a.m. in a drunk stupor is the best burger…hands (and face) down.

Yo, I hate In & Out, so gross. And takes for god damned ever.

  • The Blur

I’ve eaten that SF Saloon Hickory Burger, a culinary masterpiece.

Is 26 Beach Cafe on Washington still around? Not a burger joint by any stretch, but serve some of the best I’ve had.

  • The EDGE

Wow! Makes me wonder if the posters after the first listened for the football info or just wanted to talk burgers. I was hoping for some listener feedback before investing the time myself.

Great interview…until you dissed the Apple Pan. The Hickory Cheeseburger is a classic. Great fries. Great pie. A real burger doesn’t have Arugula and Gruyere cheese. How many different ways does it spell yuppie. Let’s stick with good…old fashioned burgers that come wrapped in paper. Keep it real, Gold!

And by the way…you are so much better than the guy that does the SC blog. Now it’s time for the team to be better.

  • A heart attack waiting to happen

A Double-Double with grilled onions is a work of art.

Tommy’s with extra everything (at no charge).

Farmhouse burger at Cheesecake Factory. Grilled pork belly and a fried egg. Mmmm.

Farmer burger from Farmer Boys. Bacon-y, greasy, and good.

Bleu Ribbon burger from Red Robin. Chipotle mayo, steak sauce, and bleu cheese.

  • Sigh

What happened to this website? Nothing for days now. Sigh.

Now start the comments about how the site is free and if we don’t like it then don’t come here, blah blah blah. Obviously I do like this site and that is exactly why I am disappointed there are no new posts for quite some time.

    Aww, it’s Sigh’s first offseason…that’s adorable.

  • There’s no news until football returns

    Sigh, Joke,

Sit down, have a burger, and shut up.

  • Anonymous posting promotes otherwise embarrassing ugliness

    Please excuse my unnecessary harshness.

I was just trying to be funny.

You could always follow the infantile trolls over to the USC blog. I know ProbationU likes to do that from time to time. It’ll give you a great look at the kind of people representing your school.
