Report: UCLA withdraws scholarship to Eddie Printz.

Eddie Printz, a highly-touted quarterback out of Atlanta, had his scholarship offer withdrawn from UCLA, according to a report in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Printz, a three-star recruit out of Lassiter High in nearby Atlanta, has been a long UCLA commit since last January. Printz’s father told the Journal-Constitution: “I feel like a horse kicked me in the stomach. And I feel like I let my son down because I let him commit early. This happens, and I don’t know how I could’ve foreseen it. I believed what Coach Mora was telling us, and now I feel sick in my stomach about it.”

The Journal-Constitution reports that it’s the second time in the last two months that a top Georgia recruit and UCLA parted ways. The Journal-Constitution also spoke with Printz’s high school coach, who said: “This is not how adults should handle business, regardless of whether it’s recruiting or not. If you’re going to build relationships with people, you have to have some level of trust. With [Green], this makes two for UCLA in Georgia. There’s a pattern.” Click on the link I’ve provided above. The article is pretty lengthy.

watch how far vb and the knuckleheads at BN run w/ this one but it’s probably best for this kid in the long, assuming hundley is as good as we all want him to be and stays healthy, god-willing

  • Matt

Happens all the time, you just never hear about it. You also have kids that hold schollies and pull out on signing day.

    Dirt business.

  • two way street

kids can decommit/ coaches can pull offers. it is what it is

  • vb’s junior college transcript

indeed. imagine how SMU felt when Eddie decommited to become Bruin. I bet those coaches felt badly…

  • The 3 Star QB

I guess that there is some reality to the UCLA coaches’ decision. There is a 4 star and 5 star QB a year ahead of me, and Jerry Neuheisel already has the clipboard holding duties locked up for the next 4 years.

  • Nacho El Cocinero

I think this event perfectly illustrates how times have changed. During the Dorrell and Neu eras, we had to beg athletes to accept a scholarship to UCLA. Now we have athletes complaining about a pulled offer.

Any predictions on which QBs will transfer? Hundley appears to have that position sewn up for a while. Neuheisel will stay but Fuller and Millweard? Not so sure.

this sucks. if you pull a schollie have the balls to do it face to face at least, and not lead the kid on for months.

Recruiting is like watching sausages being made….it’s ain’t pretty.

    Good luck Eddie.

The way I see it is Printz was the geek, and UCLA was the pretty girl in school. UCLA teased Printz with some flirting, and then totally ignored him. Now Printz is pissed because he has to resort to uglier girls…like SDSU or Southern Miss.

Let’s not get too excited with two wins. We aren’t the pretty girl yet.

  • ucla34

Dude! You are a 3 star recruit! We are doing you a favor why is your dad bitching? He wants you to be a backup to Hundley for 4 yrs??? Nuff said!!!

  • Another Bruin

Last I had heard was that Printz was thinking of decommiting. Why is he shocked when UCLA decided that they solid commits so they can spend time recruting players that want to be BRUINS!

  • VB

As I see it, I really didn’t want to take a risk on another QB with another QB named “Printz/Prince” anyway.

As long as UCLA does it then “it’s all part of recruiting”. Now if Kiffin/usc does it then it’s totally a classless act by a slime-bucket coach from a hack univeristy.

    And your point is??

I wholeheartly agree with Annon @ 9:20! Finally, someone on this blog who understands how things are supposed to work in LA.

Once again the hypocrisy from the boys at BN is glaring! Whether what is being reported about the UCLA coaching staff ignoring Printz’s emails and Tweets is true or not, had this been alleged against Kiffin or Sarkisian, BN would’ve been all over them, rather than making excuses for them as they’re doing for our staff. Until we hear both sides we don’t really know what’s going on. But if the staff did, in deed, ignore the kid’s attempts at communication, shame on them!

  • ucla34

Kiffin is a scumbag along with the university of cheats and scumbags! Another investigation pending. His father is a class act though. Kiffin will not lead SC to a title and Barkley will not win the Heisman. Ucla winning games puts those kids of Troy in the back seat! You have won “allegedly how many titles” you mean the phantom national championships? Oh yeah, thats right, i will start counting from 1 when the playoffs start! Go Bruins!!!

  • mariodileo

Here’s the deal…Adrian Klemm got Printz to de-commit from SMU and commit to the Bruins by promising that UCLA would not sign another QB from the class of ’13. Apparently, Printz’s father is one of those stagedoor dads that wanted his son to compete for the starting spot as a true frosh…but when it became apparent that wasn’t going to happen, the Printzes bailed…end of story. UCLA did not pull the scholie but there was no way the Bruins were going to hand over the starting QB role to a 3-star freshman when you have Hundley, Millweard and Fuller already in the program…the Bruins can and will do better than Printz…

Mora did it with plenty of time left in the recruiting cycle. If he pulled it in December or January, yeah, that’d be bush league, but he did it in September. Printz will land on his feet somewhere and be better off for it.

This reminds me of the 11th grade when I dated Sandy Williams. Oh wait, when I tried to date Sandy Williams.
