Franklin officially UCLA’s all-time rushing leader

On just his third touch of the night, Johnathan Franklin ran to the top of the UCLA record books. The redshirt senior did it in fitting fashion too, a 37-yard scamper into the end zone that capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive.

He needed 21 yards to set a new record, and got 10 of them before his scoring run. He now has 3,758 career rushing yards.

Gaston Green’s mark of 3,731 yards, compiled from 1984-1987, gets bumped down to No. 2 in school history. He recorded a congratulatory video that was shown on the big screen right after Franklin’s touchdown.

Franklin entered the game with 130.25 yards per game, good for seventh in the country and second in BCS conferences.
