UCLA ranked No. 17 in AP

USC is No. 20. For the first time since the Nov. 11, 2001 poll, the Bruins are ranked higher than the Trojans. Back then, Jim Mora was still a 39-year-old defensive coordinator for the 49ers. Brett Hundley was 8 years old.

    I love the dark blue uniforms and warrior face paint. I think the Bruins have to use them all the time.

    I liked the uniforms but I kept thinking we were throwing interceptions or not stopping a run until I finally got used to it. I heard the announcers say that Jim Mora said they were going to war. I wonder if he’ll be pushing them to play even better for each of the last three games.

    I want to see the L.A. Night Bruins in those colors agains SC. The fact that this is the first time in 11 years that we’ve been ranked ahead of USC is a sobering realization that we’ve been mediocre for far too long. It makes me want to cry for joy that the football drought might finally be over in Westwood.

    People, especially the media, need to tone down the Ucla-USC rivalry talk. We’re talking about a decade of domination. It’s not going to melt away in one game or even one season. Ucla’s ascendancy is still infantile. The team really needs to take Mora’s one-game-at-a-time approach. And that means the only team worth talking about is Washington State.
