Safety Ron Robinson commits to UCLA

UCLA picked up its first defensive recruit of 2014 in Ron Robinson, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound safety out of Corona’s Santiago High.

Robinson is rated three stars by Scout.com and 247Sports.com, but unrated by Rivals.com.

He told Edward Lewis of Rivals.com that UCLA may use him at mini-linebacker. He also does not plan to take any more visits, turning down Northwestern, New Mexico, Cal Poly Pomona San Luis Obispo and UC Davis.

Pretty sure you mean Cal Poly San Luis Obispo since CP Pomona doesn’t have a football team. (And hasn’t since Roman Gabriel was the coach back in the ’80s) Other than that, nice get.

      Good catch. Fixed.

I know its his jr. year highlights but his reads are a half a second late. His coverage is suspect. Not a true safety if he bulks up maybe a strong safety…even still his closing speed is nothing to write home about…wonder why this guy got a offer from Ucla…looks like a mid major at best prospect.
