UCLA moves up to No. 16 in AP poll

Despite sitting during a bye week, UCLA moved up two spots today to No. 16 in the Associated Press poll. Florida, Notre Dame and Texas — ranked 12th, 14th and 15th a week ago — all dropped below the Bruins after losses, with the Longhorns falling completely out of the rankings after a 40-21 loss to BYU.

Also absent from the AP poll is USC, which lost an ugly 10-7 game at home against Washington State. It was the first time that the Trojans had lost to the Cougars in 13 years, and their first lost against an unranked WSU squad since 1997.

No. 2 Oregon, No. 5 Stanford and No. 19 Washington represent the rest of the Pac-12 this week.

Here’s the full AP poll:

1. Alabama, 1-0 (57)

We need to make a statement and win on national TV this weekend. The spotlight is on us and L.A. is ours for the taking and foreseeable future. We need to demolish
Nebraska and make the nation know UCLA is back and for
real! Wish I had a fast forward button lol. Go Bruins!!!

+1. I am confident Mora will have the team razor focused and fired up. We have to avoid the early-game sluggishness we had against Nevada, before we exploded for 41 in the second half. No opening drive D let down–otherwise Martinez will burn us. BUT, I am confident that won’t happen, and chalk a lot of that up to a very young team dealing with first-game jitters.

      U—C—LLLL–A. U-C-L-A, Beat Big Red!

Opening line is Nebraska as 4 point favorites. That’s understandable, since it’s in their house. Bruins need to step up on this national stage and notch a signature win…

Bruins need to worry more about the huskers than ratings . Hope that defense holds up, big red is at home
