1. Oregon (4-0, 1-0) — De’Anthony Thomas’ status is unclear after he injured his ankle on Saturday and reappeared on crutches. Sophomore Byron Marshall carried the ball 19 times in his stead, racking up 130 yards and two touchdowns.

2. Stanford (4-0, 2-0) — Don’t look now, but Kevin Hogan is currently the Pac-12’s most efficient quarterback (174.58). The Cardinal also might have found a new target in junior Devon Cajuste, who caught two touchdowns, bringing his career total to three.

3. UCLA (3-0) — The Bruins still look like the consensus third-best Pac-12 team after the bye week, but Utah is a tough place to play. Forecasts predict a 50 percent chance of rain on Thursday.

4. Washington (4-0, 1-0) — Bishop Sankey leads the nation in rushing, but key to the Huskies’ rise has been their defensive turnaround. Washington is tied as the fourth-best scoring defense in the FBS, allowing 10.8 points per game. In Steve Sarkisian’s first four seasons, the team finished 70th, 79th, 108th and 39th.

5. Arizona State (3-1, 1-1) — Taylor Kelly has thrown for at least 300 yards in every appearance this season. It also helps to have Marion Grice, leads the nation in individual scoring with 18.0 points per game. Against USC, the senior back caught two touchdowns and added two more on the ground.

6. Arizona (3-1, 0-1) — B.J. Denker’s uninspiring run as the starting quarterback wasn’t helped by inclement weather at Washington, but mediocre play from his offensive line and receivers didn’t make the 31-13 loss any easier.

7. Oregon State (4-1, 2-0) — Mike Riley usually has the Beavers rolling around October, and this season may be shaping up similarly. Sean Mannion passed for a school-record six touchdowns against Colorado, and became the first FBS quarterback to reach 2,000 yards this season.

8. Utah (3-1, 0-1) — The Utes have been stout against the run so far this season, but the conference’s 11th-ranked pass defense won’t have a good day against Brett Hundley this week.

9. Washington State (3-2, 1-1) — The Cougars predictably fell back to earth after blowout wins over Southern Utah and Idaho. After averaging over 8.0 yards per attempt through those two games, WSU dropped to 5.0 in a 55-17 loss to Stanford. The team has rushed for more than 71 yards just once this season.

10. USC (3-2, 0-2) — The Trojans no longer have Lane Kiffin as their coach, so they probably can’t get any worse than they were in a dispiriting 62-41 loss at Arizona State.

11. Cal (1-3, 0-1) — Jared Goff finished 3-of-6 for 11 yards. Backup Zach Kline finished 18-of-37 for 165. Does it still count as a quarterback controversy if both were awful? Sonny Dykes also dismissed linebacker Chris McCain for conduct detrimental to the team. A four-star recruit in 2010, McCain had to regain his scholarship in spring due to academics.

12. Colorado (2-1, 0-1) — After a flood washed out a date with No. 23 Fresno State, Colorado has filled its schedule with Charleston Southern, its second FCS opponent this season. A waiver keeps the Buffs’ bowl-eligible win threshold at six, but even that likely won’t be enough for a postseason berth.
