Five-star wing Justise Winslow picks Duke

Justise Winslow committed to Duke this afternoon, adding to 2014 recruiting class already ranked No. 1 in the nation. The five-star swingman is rated the No. 9 player in the country by Rivals.com.

The Blue Devils were regarded as the frontrunner heading into this afternoon, with UCLA making a late push this week as his second potential destination. The 6-foot-6 Winslow’s other finalists were Arizona, Florida and Texas A&M.

The Bruins secured a solid class during the early signing period with five-star forward Kevon Looney and four-star center Thomas Welsh, but the addition of Winslow would have pushed the haul to elite status.

Sigh… it was an outside chance, but I was hopeful. Darn.

I wonder if Daniel Hamilton signed his LOI with UCONN….he plays the same position and could join his brother.

Looks like he signed a non-binding financial aid agreement.

There is a sleeper in Cameron Oliver,(F, 6-7/210) 3-star from Sacramento. He was out with an injury his whole junior year & is on the comeback trail. UCLA has been talking to him but hasn’t offered, I think they will now that Winslow is off the table.

    Expect more.

How is UCLA looking with Jonah Bolden now that JW is out? Also maybe Alford will look into the JC schools for a PG

Ucla has enough guys with funny names, so I’m not losing sleep over this.
