2015 tight end Alize Jones verbally commits to UCLA

UCLA’s disappointing loss to Arizona State took place in front of several big-time recruits. At least one wasn’t dissuaded by the 38-33 decision.

Bishop Gorman’s Alize Jones verbally committed to the Bruins this afternoon. Rated the No. 1 tight end in the class of 2015, the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder gives UCLA another big target behind Thomas Duarte — who will be a junior when Jones enters the program.

With more recruts like Alize Jones, UCLA can stock up to compete with the big boys.

Agreed! Nothing like landing the #1 TE in the nation to get a recruiting class rolling. More five stars–here they come…

That’s a head scratcher… I guess wanting to go to a local school was top on his list??

I thought Mazzone didn’t even like throwing to the TE in his offense? Fauria was being interviewed on Petros and they both agreed that he was more of an exception.

If Jones is athletic enough to run routes out of the slot against DB coverage, he will get the ball even if he is a TE. If he is a traditional hand-in-the-ground TE running short routes against LBs, then UCLA’s current offense probably is not a good fit.

Agreed. Fauria is more of a big wide receiver.

Remember Morrell Presley? Yeah, me either. He was the 5 star #1 TE in the country in the Bruins 2009 class. I guess he went on to become nothing at UCLA, like so many before him. Another one bites the dust.
