Im still upset fro the loss. But where does UCLA go from here this is year 2 of great start and poor finish. Jack at LB or RB? Other RBs what is going on play or not play?

    • facescar

“Year 2 of great start and poor finish”

We’ve played pretty consistently this year. Only difference between winning and losing has been level of competition. I don’t see one loss to ASU as a poor finish. Lose to USC and I’ll agree with you.

Getting some solid depth at OL and DB would be a nice start.

      • Joe Blow

It’s a lousy SC team. Unranked all year until this week. To base success on that game is a joke. Mora popped off all year. Ucla was a top 15 team. Won’t get any higher than 20. Based on all the hype, the season was a DISASTER.
        Vegas Bowl anyone?

        • HeySUCs

Washington State 10 – SUC 7. Need we say more. Breaks over Joey, start spinning the SUC sign.

          • Joe Blow

Top 15 team. Oregon, Stamford, ASU. Down the toilet. Who did you be in the top 10? Nobody. Barr, Hundley, Jack off and Mora= Disastrous season!

          • LTEfan

If your argument about a “disastrous season” is based on UCLA’s performance compared to preseason expectations, it is demonstrably false. Who picked UCLA to win the conference. Finish ahead of Oregon? Stanford? No one. Those were the conference winners in the predictions of all the experts. Many also predicted ASU to win the south division. A disappointing season, because UCLA did not rise to the top level in the Pac-12, does not make it disastrous. Perspective, please.

          • Joe Blow

            Answer: majority of bruin trolls.

What planet have you been on? Bruin fans have been prancing around all year about the NEW attitude, Mora the 2nd coming of PC (right), Hundley the heisman, Barr the Butkus, etc. NONE of it happened. Too much Kool Aid.

            Total disaster.

          • LTEfan

Oh, I see. The success of a season is judged based on the expectations of the most rabid, unrealistic fans? Hahaha! What planet have I been on, you ask? I live on the planet of rational, fact-based expectations. I concluded many weeks ago that UCLA would not win the conference and go to the Rose Bowl (Stanford game proved that clearly to anyone paying attention). Guess that makes me not one of the trolls, Joe. How about you? Argue about failed expectations with the Kool Aid drinkers, I am not one of them.

          • Sandy Underpants

UCLA won their division the past 2 years, and with this, their undeniably best team in 15 years, they couldn’t even make it to the pac-12 championship game. That’s a disappointment, for most fans anyway.

        • LTEfan

The bowl options merely prove how lousy the conference’s bowl affiliations are after the top spot. Starting with the Alamo Bowl at #2. What a joke.

  • facescar

    Two questions:

Where does Myles Jack fall on the LB/RB venn diagram this weekend?

UCLA’s two major weak points right now seem to OL and DB. What are USC’s? How do the weak spots on either team match up? (eg. can UCLA’s secondary defend Lee and co.?)

  • Dave Ritchie

Do you know why Jim Mora became agitated with Asiantii Woulard, sending him to the locker room during last week’s game?

    • 92104bruinfan

Good question. The post game show noted this and I’m not sure any explanation was ever offered.

      • LTEfan

While watching the game, I saw that Woulard kept running out to greet players coming off the field. He didn’t stay on the sidelines. But I have no idea if this was the reason Mora sent him off.

    • Jack Wang

      I do not. Sorry.

  • EncinitasBruin

What are the keys for a UCLA win this week?

    • Joe Blow

New coach. New offense. New defense.
The season was a disaster. Period.

      • NonAlumBruin

Funny. Your percentage of legitimate comments is dropping. And you need to stop disrespecting your mascot.

        • Joe Blow

That dog on your post must be your team’s new mascot.

          • NonAlumBruin

He’d be a terrible mascot. If he got loose nobody near the football would be safe.

But note, it’s a front view. Stop disrespecting your (excellent) mascot.

      • HeySUCs

        Yawn.

        • Joe Blow

That’s when what your wife says when she’s in bed with you.

      • EncinitasBruin

That’s surprisingly mature of you, Blow, to admit that SC’s season has been a disaster. But after all, you are the one who keeps tripping over yourself to gush about how crappy the Trojans are this season.

        • Joe Blow

You’re the one that was to have a great team this year. Flush. Flush. Down the toilet the Bruins went. Hahahahaha

      • LTEfan

Surprised to hear you say that. If UCLA is as inferior as you routinely say on this board, isn’t 8 wins already a good season???

        • Joe Blow

          Sure for beating nobody.

        • Sandy Underpants

It’s good for teams like Duke, UCF and UCLA. You know, non-football schools.

  • BigUglyLlama

Why was a defensive coach wearing a bright orange shirt at the ASU game? Did he lose a bet? Is he ready to bolt for Tennessee?

  • gotroy22

After the ruins are routed Saturday night do you expect all the 4 and 5 star recruits to laugh at Mora and line up to play for Coach Ed?

    • CaliGrown

      Lol why even bother ..

    • LTEfan

      Objection: speculation.

  • CaliGrown

What’s the story with Barry Ware de-committing?

  • 92104bruinfan

A few weeks ago, it seemed the Bruins were throwing a swing pass every other play as an extension of the running game (Oregon game comes to mind). Now it seems Mazzone has done a 180 and rarely goes to it. Is this simply due to lack of RB depth at this point? Btw, thanks for all your work and info on this blog Jack.

  • UCLAfan11

Brett is playing good, but not great and the draft is full of QBs… I’m sure it isn’t talked about, but is there a feel around the team that he is going to stay? How likely do you think?
What are the chances that UCLA changes OC or Noel leaves for another job? If Noel is out, does Taylor go too?

  • Bruin 34

Jack. How significant were the injuries to the o line and to Jordan James in the way our season played out? If healthy do you think Hundley looks much better and we are undefeated?

  • LTEfan

Assuming Moreau cannot play with the hamstring injury, who will start in his place at CB?

  • The EDGE

Why does this particular weekly questions column have so much bantering? Can you block them so we don’t have to filter through such immature crap?

  • Vinicius Carvalhosa

Mazzone fired after the season is even remotely possible?

  • Cliff Sakata

Might be too late to post a question. Nevermind if it is. Why didn’t Malcolm Jones pan out after being the Gatorade Player of the Year. Does SC have more talent than we do?

  • bruin_bruin

This season was not a failure at all. We needed some luck with injuries to win the south. We did not get the breaks. We had an extremely tough Road schedule and have lost to three highly ranked teams. If we have 3 losses next year, then I will agree, it was a failure. It would have been nice to beat Stanford, ASU and Oregon. UCLA has not posted back to back 8+ win seasons in pretty much forever. Our program is seriously on the rise.
