Aaron Holiday commits to UCLA, following siblings Jrue and Lauren

Another Holiday is coming to UCLA.

Four-star guard Aaron Holiday, rated the No. 2 point guard in the class of 2015, has committed to the Bruins according to multiple reports. The 6-foot-1 Campbell Hall standout is an exceptional athlete who can score in bunches, recently dropping a 26-point fourth quarter on Viewpoint.

He follows in the footsteps of his brother Jrue and sister Lauren. Jrue played for Ben Howland in the 2008-09 season before leaving for the NBA, and now plays for the New Orleans Pelicans. Lauren is redshirt freshman guard for the UCLA women’s basketball team.

Holiday’s commitment gives the Bruins’ a steady influx of talent at the position, especially as it prepares for life without triple-double threat Kyle Anderson. Five-star point guard Lonzo Ball, a 2016 prospect, also picked UCLA in January.

How ’bout that. Steve Alford recruits a point guard. I wonder how this will be criticized.

    • The EDGE

There shouldn’t be any….he probably will stay longer than one year. Perhaps Justin Simon will want to play alongside!

      • ProbationU

The boys and girls at Bruins Nation can never find anything decent about the program or the direction it is heading. If Steve Alford says the sun is shining then Tydides will complain about that. Tydides is the most negative person that I have ever read comment on anything and has absolutely zero basketball knowledge. He is a fool. Calls Bryce Alford an NAIA player even after scoring 31 points against Oregon. They just cannot get off their negative agenda and look at anything objectively. What a joke!

        • samollie

The circle jerking at BN is endless. Those sycophants will never admit to being BN posters in public for fear of ridicule and shaming. A disgrace to the UCLA fanbase, that they are.

          • ProbationU

Tydides wouldn’t even have the stones to come on here and comment. He prefers the controlled environment where he can delete any comment he doesn’t like and kick out anyone he wants to kick out that has an independent point of view. Anyone who makes a comment about either Alford that departs from their approved company line immediately gets pounced on by the “community” and the “apparatchik” for not following the party line.

So, Tydides…I know you guys read this…why don’t you come out from under your white hood and say hello to those on this board?

          • maze949

+1…awesome! haha Both you and I know, ol’ ‘Ty’ can’t weasel his way out from under Murshed’s thumb; consummate coward.

          • Idaho88

Very accurate information regarding the dolts on BN. It’s gotta be about 10 goofs who post under a few different names ’cause they all spout the same crap. Someone needs to explain to them what an apologist really is…and Tydides has got to have some emotional issue regarding Bryce Alford, he has lost it…

          • NOBSisdaMAN

You say circle jerk, I say Probation U

It must get exhausting going back and forth from this name to Joseph B. Lowe. You have become the Bucket of the Wang Blog.

Bruins Nation is not always wrong. They make some decent points at times but the tone is so consistently negative and not balanced it detracts from when they have a valid point. PLUS, their censorship is a joke. Makes Putin look like a 1st amendment defender.

          • NOBSisdaMAN

How dare you rag on BN. The ARE the BIBLE of ucla athletics.

Some stats on the bRuins Circle Jerkers string for the Oregon v UCLA game.

Quite the commentfest the Overlords of Vox Populi(not). In their comments the “writers” seem to have forgotten the “Community Guidelines” that state:

“Relentless negativity will not be tolerated. What constitutes “relentless negativity”? It’s simple: simply posting the Bruins suck 100 percent of the time or the coaches (Don’t they have a few specific names for Steve Alford used ad nauseum?)

“… we all get frustrated when the team doesn’t perform or has bad luck, but regurgitating the same venom over and over again doesn’t help anything or anyone.” (Is there ever an article in which the AD is not ridiculed?)

“…if you insult UCLA or anyone/anything associated with UCLA…(How about the Alford kid? The Overlords also have a condescending nickname for him) …you could be subjected to immediate banning. (IF ONLY THAT WAS TRUE FOR THEM!)

What is the breakdown of the “fan” constituency who, instead of focusing on the game, post to one another.

There were 465 comments by 49 commenters, so an average of about 11 per…but not so fast, the reality is unnerving:

5 commenters (10.5%) = Nestor and the usual fellow travelers contributed 43.7%
          ~ 25 to 54 comments apiece

          9 commenters (18.4%) contributed 29.7%
          ~ 11 to 19 comments apiece

[Stop for a minute...14 commenters contributed almost three-quarters of all comments!!!]

          Another 5 commenters (10.5%) contributed 15.1%
          ~ 6 to 10 comments apiece

          10.2% contributed 4.1%
          ~ 3 to 5 comments apiece

While 42.9% of more normal commenters contributed 1 to 2 comments apiece

If this example of commandeering a site with the name UCLA wasn’t so pathetic, it would be funny. By the way, I noticed that one dweeb follows the NYT reference as U.C.L.A. (the only periodical to do so), although the legal registry of entity is UCLA.

Another year another month of March Madness guys, in recent memory it seems like every year it comes and goes with UCLA not making much noise. I have a feeling this year’s going to be a bit different! It’s nice to say weve won the most titles in NCAA BBALL with no possibility of recruiting irregularities or violations!!

This doesn’t make any sense. I was explicitly told by dumbasses that elite guards wouldn’t come to UCLA because of Bryce getting all the playing time. I guess I shouldn’t listen to them anymore.

  • Buckeye Bruin

I am so glad to find this site. I live in Ohio and have followed Steve Alford since his playing days at IU. When he got the job I immediately looked for a website to get info on the team. Unfortunately the first one I came to was BN. As I said I live in Ohio, almost in the middle of the triangle that is Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame. I thought they had negative fans but they’re nothing like the idiots on BN. As someone else wrote, they go there when something good happens just to see how they’ll put their negative spin on it. Steve is a class act and a great coach. He will bring UCLA back to the top. Thanks Jack, I’m with you from now on.

    • pennyfan041

Yeah, + 1,000,000. It was actually BN that pointed me here :) . Like 10 minutes ago. Here’s a quote from the latest comment on the latest basketball post – “Just checked out Jack Wang’s site and the vitriol & hate that the uninformed bloggers have for BN actually stunned me. BN is (as I have stated before) my go to site for all things Bruin. They have to be Dorellistas/Neubies & Howlandites without a clue of what is truly going on. Whoever the Donutman hires is great with them.”

Thank you, thank you!!! I’m so glad this site is here. I tire of reading the same three phrases of hatred over and over.

The sad thing is, Bruins Nation is the first UCLA blog people usually see. Personally, my comments on that site have been deleted for disagreeing with the authors. I have been warned to stop my “antics,” but I feel the continuing negativity, especially by Tydides, takes away from the players themselves. They focus so much on the Alford family that the players who work so hard to represent UCLA are often ignored and cast aside by their blinding hatred. DCBruins is the only one I respect on the site. His basketball reviews are unbiased and do not repeat the continued bashing of our coach. Still, there is little hope for that site.

    • NOBSisdaMAN

Same happens here if you’re not a rah rah

  • ProbationU

One difference between SC and UCLA. SC starts Spring Practice in March because they know they will have nothing else going on. The Bruins start Spring Practice in April as they are still playing basketball in March.

  • CaliGrown

Just went to BN to see what they had to say about all of this and Nestor basically said our comments don’t matter since we’re on a “newspaper blog”. Some nerve those nerds have over there. Tydides and Nestor can hold hands at BN all they want but they are not Bruins. They bit*hed about not recruiting a PG and now we have one locked up for the next two classes. The best part was when they said he’s not an Alford recruit, gimme a friggin break.

Please fellow Bruins come here, BRO, n bruin247 for news, BN is in Trojan mode

    • uclawarren

Good thing BN is not a blog with internet commenters…

The problem is that BN is the best place to get links to info about UCLA sports, but you have to put up with all of their incessant criticism and petulant behavior. It’s too bad they couldn’t just put links to other sources about UCLA info on one page and then put their middle-school name-calling and arguments on another.

    • The_Sports_Dude

Are you really complaining about blog comments?

      • uclawarren

If it was any old blog, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but when sites like ESPN are linking to it as the UCLA blog, these jackasses are the representation of UCLA fans to anyone who follows those links.

        • The_Sports_Dude

So because ESPN links to BruinsNation, it is “the” UCLA blog? Come on, there are more important things to discuss about UCLA. Anyone who’s on the internet knows there are jackasses in every fan base, especially in the blogosphere. If not, then that’s an affliction the reader must realize. Mature, rational people know not to paint with such broad brushes. ESPN likes to fancy themselves as the “Worldwide Leader”, but if someone uses them as their sole primary force for sports news, then who cares what they think of UCLA?
