Jim Mora says UCLA spring game not useful for evaluations

— Jim Mora said UCLA’s Saturday spring game will be completely live except for quarterbacks, who will wear red non-contact jerseys, as well as kick/punt returns. The 5 p.m. event at the StubHub Center will feature four 12-minute quarters.

“They’ll get to see some real football,” he said. “No B.S., just ball.”

— Mora also added that holding a real game versus a mixed-event “Showcase” like the team did last season doesn’t actually provide much benefit for the Bruins themselves.

“We’re not going to take anything from it in terms of how to prepare for a game or anything like that, because we’re not doing any game planning,” he said. “The only thing we’re doing is running through some plays.”

— Quarterback Brett Hundley will exit the game at some point and call a few plays. He will also be available for autographs during the game. The rest of the team will sign autographs beforehand, starting at 3 p.m.

— Four-star linebacker Kenny Young was at his second straight practice today, one that lasted just under an hour. The Louisiana native was No. 95 in the country, and was one of the Bruins’ three top-100 recruits in 2014.
