Oddsmaker gives UCLA eighth-best chance at College Football Playoff berth

The college football season doesn’t start for another three months, but oddsmakers are already taking early bets.

Online sportsbook Bovada.lv gave UCLA a 12-to-5 shot to make the inaugural College Football Playoff, good for an eighth-best chance at the field of four.

Defending national champion Florida State led with 2-to-7 odds, followed by Alabama (11-to-10), Oregon (1-to-1) and Ohio State (20-to-21). The Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl will host national semifinals on Jan. 1, with winners advancing to the Jan. 12 title game at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

USC closed the 11-team list with 6-to-1 odds.

I give Marcos Giron a 100% chance of being the 2014 NCAA Champion singles tennis player this year. How about a post, Jack?

    • Cliff Sakata

      Tennis? Are you serious?

      • The Big Woof!

Cliff, are you dumb or stupid or related to Joe Blow? There are other sports at UCLA besides football, and true Bruins should be proud. If you ever watched Marcos play you’d realize what a great athlete and proud Bruin he is. A NCAA championship in any sport deserves to be recognized

Ok. Whatever floats your boat, but pretty sure the tennis TV ratings aren’t very high for UCLA tennis. Also, didn’t see many people watching tennis matches, at least when I attended UCLA. Sorry but it’s a fact that most of us only care about football and basketball.

          • The Big Woof!

Understood, but every major Bruin athletic accomplishment should be recognized and appreciated. (see my response to Sark for more). And, browsing Jack’s tweets, he’s more interested in the damn Clippers, WTF?

          • Cliff Sakata

            Ok fair enough. Go bruins!

          • NOBSisdaMAN

            Who isn’t?

    • Sark and the Seven Win Wonders

I like tennis. Would I turn on the TV to watch it, or pay to see it live. No.

      • The Big Woof!

That’s my point, Sark (and Cliff). You don’t have to be a fan of the sport, each to his or her own. But recognition of an important Bruin accomplishment should be made. And this Blog’s title is Inside UCLA, not Inside UCLA Football. I know the readers are mostly interested in football, with some hoops interest (but not women’s hoops), although Jack sure likes baseball, too.
