UCLA will get the last crack at convincing an experienced point guard to come to Los Angeles.

Colorado State’s outgoing graduate transfer Jon Octeus has narrowed down his choices to the Bruins along with Missouri and Cincinnati, and will visit UCLA on either June 26 or 27 according to The Coloradoan. He is currently finishing up a two-day visit to the Tigers and will see the Bearcats over the weekend.

Octeus announced his intent to transfer out of Colorado State on Monday. The Miami-area native will be immediately eligible upon obtaining his undergraduate degree next month.

“My goal since high school has been to push myself to be the best basketball player I can be, and more importantly, obtain a college degree while doing so,” Octeus said in a statement. “I am proud of the fact that I will be graduating with my bachelor’s degree from CSU in July. This was not an easy decision, but upon graduating, I have decided it is in my best interest to explore the opportunity to complete my last year of eligibility at another institution.”

A 6-foot-4, 170-pound guard, Octeus started all 32 games as a redshirt junior and was the Rams’ third-leading scorer (13.4), rebounder (4.7) and passer (2.3).

He would provide much-needed backcourt depth for a UCLA squad that lost guards Kyle Anderson, Jordan Adams and Zach LaVine to the NBA draft. The trio combined to average 41.4 points, 16.6 rebounds and 10.5 assists during the Bruins’ Sweet Sixteen run.

UCLA will return its third-leading scorer in senior guard Norman Powell, as well as sophomore guards Bryce Alford and Isaac Hamilton. Alford backed up Anderson at point, while Hamilton — a former five-star prospect — sat out the season after breaking his letter of intent to UTEP.
