UCLA recruit announcement schedule

UCLA’s recruiting class could change most dramatically on Feb. 4, when top prospects such as tight end Chris Clark and defensive tackle Joseph Wicker are slated to make Signing Day announcements. But there are a few other players scheduled to make their official decisions this week — ones that could provide surprise boosts to the Bruins’ haul.

Benning Potoa’e, DE, 6-4/265, Lakewood (Wash.)
Rating: Four stars, No. 18 position (Scout) … No. 21 (Rivals)
Announcement: 2:15 p.m. PT, Thursday, 1/22
Finalists: UCLA, Washington
Latest: Washington had most of buzz this week, but Huskies coach Chris Petersen reportedly moved his in-home visit from Thursday evening — which would have followed the announcement — to yesterday evening.

Osa Masina, OLB, 6-3/231, Brighton (Utah)
Rating: Five/four stars, No. 2 position / No. 19 national (Scout) … No. 3 position / No. 37 national (Rivals)
Announcement: 10:40 a.m. PT, Friday, 1/23
Finalists: Arizona State, UCLA, USC
Latest: High school teammate and fellow linebacker Porter Gustin is a USC recruit, and the two could very well end up wearing the same colors at the next level.

Ryan Newsome, WR, 5-9/175, Aledo (Texas)
Rating: Four/three stars, No. 26 position (Scout) … No. 47 position (Rivals)
Announcement: 1 p.m. PT, Friday, 1/23
Finalists: Texas, UCLA
Latest: UCLA hasn’t had recent luck in Texas, losing out on linebacker Malik Jefferson and receiver DeAndre McNeal, and Newsome told Bleacher Report he is still torn between the Bruins and the Longhorns.
