Four-star linebacker Krys Barnes commits to UCLA

Four-star linebacker Krys Barnes committed to UCLA today, becoming the fourth player to join the Bruins’ 2016 class and the second at his position.

The soon-to-be senior at Liberty High in Bakersfield is rated the No. 12 inside linebacker in the country by Rivals.com and the No. 8 middle linebacker by Scout.com. The former also has him as a top-40 recruit at any position in California. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker had 130 tackles, five forced fumbles and an interception as a junior.

The rest of the Bruins’ current recruiting class consists of five-star linebacker Breland Brandt, four-star receiver/defensive back Michael Pittman, and longsnapper Johnny Den Bleyker.

Great news after the tough basketball loss yesterday.

Stocking up in talent! Go Bruins!

Mora is the man with the plan. He is creating a beast program. It is going to be amazing watching the Bruin rev dominate.

If there was a plan, UCLA would already or should soon have a couple of offensive linemen committed or even defensive linemen committed…but there is not a single one of the 4 so far. I wouldn’t count a 6’4 220 lb DE a D line commit in UCLA’s base 3-4.

After the 2016 season, UCLA loses 7 guys on the O line. Benenoch, Redmond, Goines, McDermott, Bateman, Quessenberry, and Cyburt. Some could even leave sooner. The only offensive linemen left for spring 2017 are:
      1. Moala RJr
      2. Lacy RJr
      3. Lopez RJr
      4. Miller RSo
And the 4 guys UCLA recruited for the 2015 class. That’s only 8 guys. So UCLA would need to recruit probably 5 freshmen O line guys and maybe a 6th who grey shirts for the 2016 class. Getting a JC transfer for 2016 looks good also. If everybody is healthy, there would be 15 bodies available in spring 2017.

Mora would need to get 5 more O linemen in 2017 also where 1 is an early enrollee.

Might be better if Najee Toran stays on the O line but we have depth issues on the D line also.

This is again Mora’s fault for only bringing in 2 OL guys in the 2014 class.

Oh ye of little faith. Perhaps you are better suited for the clown college blog.

Whoa whoa calm down there buddy. We just got a top recruit at a position of need and you’re crying about the OLine. Last I checked we are 10 deep there for next season. Recruiting season is in its early stages and do you really think we’re not offering offensive linemen left n right. Enjoy the guys we have committed there will be plenty more on the way.

It’s not about “offering” it’s about getting. And you don’t realize the seriousness of the issue of O line depth and their anticipated graduation/departure.

Wow!! this kid’s got a nose for the football, and he can run too. I can’t wait for Myles Jack’s replacement.
