UCLA receiver Devin Lucien transfers to Arizona State

Receiver Devin Lucien, who left UCLA right before spring camp, has decided to transfer to Arizona State.

On track to graduate this summer, Lucien will be able to play immediately. Once a four-star recruit in 2011, the former Crespi Carmelite star never became a consistent player in Westwood.

Despite teasing crowds with his athleticism through multiple offseasons, Lucien struggled to break out into a primary roll through three seasons at UCLA. He left Los Angeles totaling 752 receiving yards and four touchdowns, but caught for fewer yards in 2014 (225) than he did the season prior (339).

After UCLA’s Alamo Bowl win over Kansas State in January, he expressed discontent about his role on the team.

The Bruins host the Sun Devils on Oct. 3.

    Best of luck to him.

It is cool that mora would allow this transfer and Lucien should be grateful. However, don’t expect Myles and Kenny to go easy on you. Prepare for another 60 plus beat down.

Talented kid who allowed his emotions to control him, rather than vice versa. Made a big deal out of every catch, jumping around and celebrating, but the high highs led to low lows, and dropped passes. Now he has to learn a new system with just one season to do it. Wish him the best, but feel like he underachieved as a Bruin.

I hope he has zero receptions in their 30 point loss to us this year.

good luck devin, hoping it all works out for you.

    Devin,
Good luck in every game except one.
Loved the feature with your Mom on the Pac 12 Network.
Biggest downside is that you won’t have a UCLA diploma.

dude I’m pretty sure Devin has to graduate before being able to play right away at ASU as a graduate transfer…meaning he will have a diploma after graduating this june.

It was selfish of him to transfer out rather than working hard to become a reliable recover like Payton.. Fact is Lucien cared more about his own agenda than the team we all love UCLA..

Where are all the dumb UCLA fans who once proclaimed Devin Lucien was a beast and would start as a freshman or redshirt freshman. They said he was a “lock” to start.

There were fans proclaiming that Lucien would beat out Jerry Johnson and/or Shaq Evans in 2012.

I have no idea why Lucien decided to leave. He actually had quite a few receptions. They were not for many yards though and perhaps that was the problem. Not sure.
