Three-star center Sean Auwae commits to UCLA

Center Sean Auwae has announced his commitment to UCLA, giving the Bruins more depth at a position that will soon be vacated by a four-year starter.

The Hawaiian native is ranked the No. 3 center in the class of 2016 by Rivals, and No. 9 by Scout. The latter also has him as the top center in the West.

The 6-foot-3, 293-pound lineman gives UCLA another body to man the middle of the trenches. After this season, the Bruins will lode fourth-year starter Jake Brendel, a team captain who has only missed one game in his career. Currently backing him up in camp is true freshman Fred Ulu-Perry, who has received strong reviews through his first week of practices.

Offensive guard Scott Quessenberry, who is redshirting this season as he recovers from shoulder surgeries, could also switch to center once he returns.
