Cathedral defensive end Hunter Echols commits to UCLA

A day after UCLA announced its latest recruiting class, the Bruins added one more prospect to its 2017 haul.

Los Angeles Cathedral defensive lineman Hunter Echols announced his commitment to UCLA on Thursday morning, but added that he will still be taking his visits to other colleges. Scout gives the 6-foot-4, 220-pound recruit a four-star ranking, and considers him the second-best defensive end in California.

The Bruins also have verbal commitments from defensive back Rhedi Short and linebackers Jaquan Henderson and Rahyme Johnson.

I doubt Rahyme Johnson ever winds up at ucla. Too much baggage!

Just because he put Ben Gay ointment in some kids eyes?

      • Xtracrazy32

        You’re joking right?

        • 88 Straight

Not joking about him doing that…it’s not a joking matter. It was widely reported. Just a touch of sarcasm in the comment.

A bit surprised that UCLA didn’t pull his offer. Are there other incidents that you know about?

          • Xtracrazy32

Just that he burned a USC jersey, when he committed to ucla. I doubt ucla was too upset about that.

When someone rubs icy hot in an opponents face it shows that that they are total thug! I don’t know of any other incidents, but I am sure there are.

If only Reggie had done a R. Johnson instead of pocketing illegal cash.

Ever drive drunk or do something really, really stupid? Not everybody is well adjusted in their teenage years.

Actually, putting Ben Gay in a kid’s eyes is a pre-meditated act. I am not sure it can be just explained as a stupid teenage act. I wonder what your response would be if he was a Trojan. I hope UCLA is watching this kid closely and that he tows the line from here on out.

That makes 11 Linemen in UCLA’s 2016 recruiting class.

I can see why they named him Hunter.
    Hope that commitment sticks.
    Welcome Hunter!
