Mike Mayock: UCLA LB Myles Jack looks like a top-10 draft pick

After missing most of the 2015 season, former UCLA linebacker Myles Jack (30) is trying to become one of the top players taken in the 2016 NFL Draft. (Keith Birmingham/Staff)

Myles Jack won’t be a full participant in this week’s NFL combine, but that doesn’t mean he’ll last long in the 2016 draft.

According to NFL Networks analyst Mike Mayock, the former UCLA linebacker looks like a top-10 pick — as long as he is medically cleared after tearing his lateral meniscus back in September. Jack recently told ESPN that he will do the bench press and interview with teams in Indianapolis, and expects to be fully cleared for drills early next month.

Expected to be an All-America candidate as a junior this past season, Jack injured his knee after appearing in just three games for the Bruins.

“Even though his season was cut short by injury this year, the tape I watched I saw a different guy this year than in past years,” Mayock said. “He was more physical, more confident in his physicality, able to come down and take on guards, tackles, fullbacks. I saw a guy that was more of a finesse player earlier in his career turn into a true linebacker this year.”

One of nine UCLA players invited to the combine, Jack is unquestionably the program’s top pro prospect. Defensive tackle Kenny Clark is the only other player in the conversation to be a first-round pick.

That Jack proved himself to be a powerful college tailback as well — rushing for 380 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first two seasons — only makes him more attractive to NFL franchises, even if they have no intention to use him on offense.

“The more you can reinforce to yourself that he’s highly athletic and adaptable,” Mayock said, “the more you’re gonna like him.”

  • NYC Bruin

Clipper Rosen Jack, where you at?

    • 88 Straight

He’s busy compiling a list of Mike Mayock’s bad picks and 6’1″ linebackers that have failed. Then back to reading Green Eggs and Ham.

      • NYC Bruin

I think he might be submitting the wannabe scout at Bleacher Report for a Pulitzer.

        • Laker Rod

You went hiding for a few days also when you learned Myles Jack wouldn’t fully be participating at the NFL combine. Funny how you suddenly appear based on one guy’s observation. You don’t even listen to what Jim Mora said.

          • NYC Bruin

How did I go hiding? Sorry Leroy, I have a real job and don’t have time to reply to all of your factually challenged posts. Okay, so MJ won’t be working out fully at the combine, so what? Do you know how many elite players didn’t do a full workout at the combine? Lastly, do you honestly think CJM agrees with any of your takes on this issue (Hint: he doesn’t)?

          • 88 Straight

Or any other issue. LR criticizes Mora on a regular basis, like starting Josh Rosen. Now Mora is LR’s draft guru. He conveniently adapts his truths as he dodges them.

          • NYC Bruin

88, I think it is only appropriate to call him by his proper title of either Leroy or Clipper Rosen Jack (CRJ).

          • Laker Rod

Mora hasn’t been right on everything especially when it comes to knowing the history of college true freshmen. Face it. When it comes to NFL scouting and draft picking…he’s much more experienced in this area. Wake up. Look at how things turned out. Mora had his worst record with Josh Rosen.

All both of you too is just come up with pure nonsense. You know you read the article too and what Mora said. I repeat…your head is simply stuck in the mud as usual.

          • 88 Straight

In addition to not being able to read, you are illogical. It’s a great group of attributes. Can’t read. Can’t reason. Can’t spot talent. Can’t understand simple logic. Perfect for Mickie D’s or a government job.

          • Laker Rod

Typical lame response as usual by you. You’re just living in denial and you know it. You won’t even address the detail topic. It’s proven you are wrong. Care to comment on Jim Mora’s remarks? YOU have NEVER addressed it and you know it.

          • 88 Straight

And you have never addressed the fact that Marcus Peters was tossed the UW squad, went in the 1st round and was AFC Defensive Player of the Year.

As for Mora, he wanted Myles for another year. Simple, so it escapes you.

          • Laker Rod

You have trouble reading and understanding. Marcus Peters is a CORNERBACK. Big cornerbacks with speed are often a high commodity. Again proves you know nothing about football. 6’0 200. Prototype size. Fluid hips and strong.

In addition, Peters REDSHIRTED his 1st year. He was a RJr and played in 8 games in 2014. He had trouble with the new coaching staff and was kicked off. This is different than having a team captain of yours telling you to get out of here because he only thinks of himself. There are other discipline issues with Jack also. He was Mr. I’ll give 15 yards and a 1st down on 3rd down.

I also said name a LINEBACKER. You have trouble reading? A LB of Myles Jack’s size who hasn’t even shown he can pass rush at 6’1 …isn’t a high commodity.

You’re the absolute fraud. Deal with it. Want to get away? Time to change your name again. LOL!!

          • 88 Straight

You have been exposed again as illiterate. It was about the attitude issues you raised about Jack. It has nothing to do with the position played. You are lacking a brain.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!! Lame. You try to blow off every negative related to Myles Jack by trying to provide some unrelated example. It’s like comparing apples to a mule which you’re the mule. LOL!! Try again. Not valid example and you know it.

You have to factor EVERY negative related to Myles Jack…not just one piece. Unbelievable. You’re just too old.

          • 88 Straight

Apparently everyone looking at Myles Jack is too old except for you. Still won’t back up your own words. Chicken Little is back.

          • Laker Rod

Jim Mora isn’t too old. LOL!!! He doesn’t agree with you and NYC and you know it.

          • 88 Straight

You are simply deflecting again. Mora didn’t want to lose a top player. You said he would not be drafted in the 1st round. Now you say he won’t “play” like a 1st rounder. That’s called a back pedal because if and when he goes in the 1st round you will look like a fool.

We have asked several times and you simply change the subject. What round WILL he be drafted in?

It’s a simple question that you are afraid to answer.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! Now you think you’re Jim Mora himself and claim he simply didn’t want to lose a player. LOL!!! HA HA HA!!!! This gets better each time. LOL!!!!! You’re a total embarrassment.

Why don’t you tell Jim Mora that yourself. Let us know he says if you survive the humiliation. LOL!!!!

          • NYC Bruin

            What is a “high” commodity?

          • Laker Rod

Defensive linemen are usually high commodity. 6’4 275 lb defensive ends with 4.65 speed or 6’2 310 defensive tackles who run sub 5. 6’7 offensive tackles 325 lbs low 5 40 yard dash, etc. Quarterbacks. Big speed y cornerbacks. Tall big fast wide receivers. Just look who is usually taken in the 1st round. 6’4 255 lb linebackers with 4.55 speed.

Lower commodities are running backs, small WR’s, safeties, offensive guards, and shorter linebackers. It has gotten this way because historically the NFL has had many lower round picks play well enough at these spots.

There are always exceptions to the rule. You should do a search on this. It’s good reading.

And please don’t say Myles Jack could be this exception. That’s all I heard about true frosh Josh Rosen. He was no exception. He played just like a true freshman against USC.

          • NYC Bruin

I think you missed the point of the question.

          • Laker Rod

You have got to be kidding. Trying to deflect now and get into details related to “hot” and “high” LOL!!! Another new low level you stoop to. Come on. Admit it. You were wrong and you know it. It’s obvious with your response back.

          • 88 Straight

You don’t answer a simple question. Too afraid to be exposed as a fool.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! With all the negatives pertaining to Jack and the commodity position he is in…he’s a 2nd rounder IMO.

If you think he deserves to be a 1st rounder and will play like a 1st rounder in the NFL…then so be it. You want to bet? You have nothing to bet anyhow. You already got slaughtered related to Josh Rosen and where UCLA ended up.

You have yet to win a single debate against me.

          • 88 Straight

You are the one changing the topic. And you still won’t answer the question. In your mind, which nobody respects, he’s a second rounder. The question is simply, what round will he be drafted in? And now you are backing away from your original answer. Cowardly.

          • Laker Rod

Deserves to be a 2nd rounder. Answered.

You can’t deliver. So will Jack be taken in the 1st round? Will he play like a 1st rounder like Eric Kendricks did? Two very simple yes or no questions. Proves what a wimp you are.

          • 88 Straight

Not where you think he deserves to go, dummy. Where he actually goes. Still back peddling! You are quite the joke. Predict 2nd round and then toss in the word deserves when you realize you will probably be proven wrong on Draft Day! LOL!!!

          • Laker Rod

I already answered many times. You apparently can’t read. It’s the same position as Jim Mora. As per Jim Mora stated…NFL teams don’t normally take somebody like Jack with all his negatives in the 1st round. Too risky.

I repeat…make the bet. If YOU are so confident in Myles Jack being 1st round material…go ahead and boldly claim Jack will be a 1st rounder and play like a 1st rounder. Claim he will even do better than Erick Kendricks. Time for you to put up OR SHUT UP.

          • 88 Straight

            Another non answer.

          • Laker Rod

Yup…by YOU. LOL!! Time for you to SHUT UP.

          • 88 Straight

Try answering the question. Such a frustrated little weasel!

          • NYC Bruin

Serious question, did you go to UCLA? If not did you get any form higher education? I will bet anything that you don’t answer this question directly.

          • Laker Rod

            Lame question.

I repeat…put up or shut up.

          • NYC Bruin

Shocking, he didn’t answer the question. Clipper, you should invest in a thesaurus, it will make you sound like less of an imbecile.

          • 88 Straight

3rd grade reading. 3rd grade writing. Calls others dumb. Welcome to the world of Laker Fraud.

          • NYC Bruin

I think 3rd grade is generous.

          • NYC Bruin

Clipper, do you get paid by the hour. I bet you do.

          • Laker Rod

Lame come back. You lost and you know it. You disagree with Jim Mora about Myles Jack’s draft status. LOL!!! You have no response whatsoever to the evidence presented to you related to the question marks for Myles Jack.

          • NYC Bruin

You presented bluster and a Bleacher Report article, written by an intern. Please, game over loser.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! You think you know more than Jim Mora related to the NFL draft. LOL!!! HA HA HA!!!!

          • 88 Straight

Apparently a guy that is 6’1, 245 that runs like deer, can play OLB, safety and running back isn’t a high value commodity in Little Rodney’s world workin the French fry station at Mickie D’s.

And Rodney is still backing away from his original position of Jack as a 2nd rounder!

          • Laker Rod

Myles Jack didn’t run like a deer af 6’1 245. Wake up. Jack was 225/230 back then and he ran like a deer BEFORE his injury. Just go on and continue with all your twisted LIES and distortion. Care to admit this? Doubt it…we know how you operate.

Jack is a 2nd rounder IMO. He doesn’t deserve to be a 1st rounder. I have not backed away from anything.

You can’t even get yourself to commit that Myles Jack will be taken in the 1st rounder and play like a 1st rounder. Chicken.

          • 88 Straight

Another non answer. Reports are that his knee looks good. 1st round.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!. Reports look good but he isn’t ready for the NFL combine so now teams have less info to go off of. So will Jack play like a 1st rounder? I repeat…CHICKEN.

And you of course never fess up to your distorted representations. Claiming Jack runs like a deer at 6’1 245. I corrected you…letting you know Jack looked fast/agile out there at 6’1 225/230…not 245. This was all before his injury too. Will you ever fess up? NOPE!

Do you not see where this concludes. Deep down you and NYC are not even confident yourselves Jack can perform at a 1st round level in the NFL. If you did…you would have no hesitations in answering question 2 related to will Jack play like a 1st rounder in the NFL. Jack probably won’t end up like a Manziel but he may not be as good as some think…especially if he’s taken in the 1st round.

NYC has gone into hiding again because he knows he blew it related to the examples he provided related to short 5’11 – 6’1 type linebackers. Many of those examples he gave were not even 1st rounders themselves. James Harrison undrafted FA. Kendricks and Lavonte David 2nd rounders. Elvis Dumerville 4th rounder.

So I repeat…why take Myles Jack in the 1st round when you can get similar value in later rounds. Why risk/waste a 1st round pick and pay 1st round money to somebody where you can something of equal value in later rounds for less money. Devalued commodity. Care to answer? Of course not.

Just cut your losses already. You just make yourself look more foolish and uneducated each time you debate with me.

          • 88 Straight

Not capable of the simple answer. You think that makes you look smart?

It just displays your inability to answer the question. Where will he be drafted? We are all familiar with your poor evaluations. Neuheisel throws better than Rosen. Ish Adams is the best DB. Start Prince or Brehaut ahead of Hundley. True genius. And you criticized Mora for every decision but now he’s your go to guy!

This whole thread was simply about where Myles Jack will be drafted, not about predicting his entire NFL career. He doesn’t play the same position as Kendricks, so why compare. Just dumb on top of dumb.

Now, back to the original topic. Where does Jack get drafted?

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! More distortions by you. That’s all you are good for.

I have no idea where Myles Jack will be drafted and neither do YOU dummy. Jack has a lot of negatives just like Jim Mora said. Deal with it. You just live in denial.

You were WRONG about Josh Rosen.

I never said Neuheisel throws better than Rosen. You are truly one sad individual who just constantly makes up lies to mask your own deficiencies.

Ish Adams was UCLA best DB last year. You have nothing to prove otherwise. If it wasn’t for Ish…UCLA would have lost to Colorado also. Sure Ish made mistakes but so did all the other DB’s minus the big plays.

If Brehaut/Prince started in 2012, Hundley would have probably stayed in 2015 and UCLA would have been in the Pac-12 championship game dummy. Rosen would have redshirted too.

Mora’s been criticized because he’s still new to being a college coach dummy. You don’t understand anything. Mora knows what the NFL is about. He has way more experience in the NFL than college. You going to dispute this? YOU ARE TOO EASY TO BEAT.

You claim Mora said those things about Myles Jack because he just didn’t want him to leave. LOL!!! You’re an embarrassment to UCLA!

          • 88 Straight

No distortions. You don’t remember telling people to watch the YouTube videos where you said that Jerry threw better than Josh? Now you deny. You are a lying little troll that can’t stand getting called out.

You said Jack would go in the 2nd round and now deny that. More “memory loss.”

            What a joke!!

          • NYC Bruin

What do you want to bet old Clipper doesn’t answer a single one of these.

          • Laker Rod

I answered all of them. How much you want to bet you can’t answer these:

            1. NYC thinks he knows more than Jim Mora related to the NFL draft. Can’t admit Jim Mora feels it’s too risky to take Jack in the 1st rounder. NYC tried to originally claim Jim Mora didn’t agree with my position. LOL!!! HA HA HA!!! Care to fess up?

            2. NYC won’t fess up that the short LB’s he named himself such as James Harrison, Kendricks, Lavonte David, etc. were all non-1st rounders which supports my point related to short LB devalued commodity. No response from NYC. LOL!!

            3. Tries to group Myles Jack’s “negative” selfishness and associate it as the same as Kobe and Jordan being selfish. LOL!!! A team captain told Myles Jack…”get out of here Myles…all you do is think about yourself”. How is this the same as Jordan and Kobe who simply want to shoot the ball because they have confidence and no fear if they fail. You made an invalid comparison and you know it. NYC obviously no response. LOL!! Care to fess up?

            4. NYC can’t admit/fess up that other LB’s taken in the 1st round like Barr and others were not coming off a torn meniscus and only played 3 games then entered the draft.

            5. NYC can’t admit/fess up that Jack doesn’t shed blocks very well despite the video evidence provided to him.

            6. NYC tried to twist around the debate and provides more distortion claiming I said Jack would be a “bust”. LOL!!! Never said anything like this and you know it. Face it. You already admitted defeat by going in this direction and you know it. I have provided way more evidence than you to prove that Myles Jack is not 1st rounder worthy. Jim Mora feels the same way too.

Well? Will NYC answer a single one of these?

          • NYC Bruin

            1. I never said I knew more than Jim Mora, I said all of his “negative” MJ quotes came from one press conference where he was clearly emotional and I doubt he holds the same views today. You on the other hand think you know more than every NFL General Manager.

            2. The linebackers I listed either went to the pro-bowl or are locks for the HOF and EK, point being, Myles height is not the impediment you claim it is. Unlike you Clipper, the world evolves, just because there was a prototype ten years ago doesn’t mean that it still makes sense today.

            3. Sports can be emotional and Myles has a short fuse, is it a positive, no, but is he the only elite athlete to have this characteristic, no.

            4. You need to learn how to write above a 3rd grade level, this one literally makes zero sense.

            5. You linked an article that showed maybe 4 plays, mostly from his Freshman year out of probably a total of more than 1,000, I doubt you ever took a statistics class but you should Google the term “sample size”

            6. You said he would be another Manziel, own your words loser.

            Class dismissed.

          • Laker Rod

            1. Sure you did. You tried to claim Myles Jack is a sure fire 1st rounder despite what Jim Mora said. You’ve tried to sweep it under the rug each time knowing you’ve been exposed. Come on. Fess up.

            2. The LB”s you mentioned were NOT 1st rounders PERIOD. Proved my point about devalued commodity which you still can’t fess up to.

            3. Sport can be emotional and Myles has a short fuse. LOL!! You tried to compare his selfishness to that of Jordan and Kobe. Get real. Jake Brendel the team captain told Myles to get out of here…you only think of yourself. Even Jim Mora told Myles to calm down and that he’s ruining his reputation. Remember that? All you try to do is sweep things under the rug like they don’t matter. Come on. Fess up.

            4. LOL!!! Stuck huh. Can’t answer and fess up as usual? YOU tried to provide examples of other LB’s taken in the 1st round. Are you in denial now? Those LB’s taken were NOT coming off some type of knee injury. Admit it. Fess up.

            5. Most from his freshman year. LOL!!! Look. UCLA played Cal at the Rose Bowl in 2015. We alternate each year. So the play where Myles Jack can’t read the offensive linemen and gets sucked in and allows the tight end to go for 40 yards was Jack’s SOPHOMORE year. And wake up. There isn’t enough FILM for his JUNIOR year. DUH!!! Jack only played 3 games like Jim Mora said. Care to fess up on the continued distortions you provide? If Jack was so good then how come the UCLA defense wasn’t better then?

            6. You making up more LIES. I never said Jack would be another Manziel. It’s proven you have lost to sink down to this low life level. What I said was the there are GM’s who are dumb enough to take Manziel in the 1st round and accordingly there could be other GM’s dumb enough to take Jack in the 1st round. It’s obvious Manziel was NOT 1st round material. So will Myles Jack be? You won’t even commit to this CHICKEN.

You got schooled big time. Totally slaughtered as usual. How do you live with the humiliation? LOL!! Want to get away? Maybe you should change your name also like Probation U/aka 88 Straight did. HA HA HA!!

          • 88 Straight

Find the quote where Jim Mora said Myles Jack isn’t a 1st rounder. Find where Mora said that he doesn’t have first round talent or won’t perform like a first rounder. It doesn’t exist. You talk about Mora as if he backs up your point and you aren’t bright enough to realize that he doesn’t. You won’t even stick with your original prediction of where Myles will be drafted.

Your reading abilities are so deficient that you don’t even understand your own words!

          • Laker Rod

LOL!! Find a quote where Mora said Myles Jack “is” 1st rounder. Dummy. There is way more evidence from Mora stating Jack is taking a big risk putting all his chips in. Wake up. You simply live in denial.

          • 88 Straight

Mora has never stated where any of his players might be drafted. Nobody in life ever succeeded without risk. But, what would you know about success?

Every mock draft on nfl(dot)com has Myles going in the top 8 of the draft. While many of these draft “gurus” are somewhat questionable, they all know more than you. Where do you expect your preferred QB, Jerry Neuheisel will be drafted? Face reality, you don’t recognize actual talent.

          • Laker Rod

But Mora said Jack is taking a risk. Head in sand as usual for you. LOL!!!

          • 88 Straight

Success in life involves risk. Staying at UCLA involves risk too. Successful people understand that, which explains why you don’t.

          • Laker Rod

Head bury in sand as usual. Jellyfish. LOL!!

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! Didn’t seem all that risky for Eric Kendricks who stayed all 5 years or for Anthony Barr who returned for his senior year.

Face it. You’re probably the one who told Ellis McCarthy to leave after his junior year. I’m sure who supported that too. LOL!!!

          • 88 Straight

Yep. Ellis and I are close. We came by the McDonald’s to make sure we got your French fries.

And staying also involves risk of injury. Ask Matt Barkley.

          • 88 Straight

Absolutely. Ellis and I are close. We came by your Mickie D’s and watched you in action. You are a master at the french fry station.

Staying in school can be risky too. Ask Matt Barkley.

          • Laker Rod

Lame response as usual. JELLYFISH. LOL!!!

          • 88 Straight

            Extra salt please

          • Laker Rod

Yet another lame response by Jellyfish. Spineless.

          • 88 Straight

Everyone knows what you are Fraudney. Thank you for showing your extreme knowledge of invertebrates! Frankly, you are more of a snail. Slow and plentiful. Nothing unique.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!! You’ve lost every single debate we have had and you know it.

You lose so bad…you try to take every position possible so you can look correct. You take a position of “it’s possible” UCLA can go 10-2. LOL!! Then you say 6-6. Then you say 8-4. LOL!!! This is why you deserve the label JELLYFISH. Spineless and gutless. You’ve earned it. It’s proven.

            HA HA HA!!!

          • 88 Straight

You’ve never tried more than one position. Your fake wife is probably not satisfied. Have you seen HER depth chart? You are probably 3rd string at best.

          • Laker Rod

Hey…what’s the matter NYC. You can’t answer the above points can you? Proven you can’t fess up.

          • 88 Straight

Jim Mora never said it was too risky to take Myles Jack in the 1st round. Another reading comprehension issue.

He said it was too risky for Myles Jack to leave early and that it was risky on Myle’s behalf to assume he would go in the first round with only 3 games on tape as a junior. He NEVER said that it was too risky for a team to draft him in the first round. Do we need to explain the difference to you?

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! Same difference. It’s truly amazing the denial you live in.

          • 88 Straight

Not at all the same, which shows your level of intelligence. Find me any quote from Mora where he says that Myles Jack does not have 1st round talent. It doesn’t exist. AND you are showing off your lack of reading comprehension, AGAIN. Find a tutor.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! Times of deep desperation for 88 Straight/Probation U. HA HA HA!!! You talk out of both ends and they both stink. LOL!!

          • 88 Straight

And you can’t comprehend simple comments. UCLA grad! LOL

Try reading Mora’s comments again and then talk to someone intelligent who can explain them to you.

          • Laker Rod

            Miss Desperado Jellyfish. LOL!!!!

          • 88 Straight

Nothing but insults from the lying virgin troll. UCLA grad? LOL

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! Look who’s talking. It’s proven. You’re a spineless jellyfish. Per you..it’s possible UCLA can go 10-2. You then said it’s possible they could go 6-6. You also said it’s possible they go 8-4. You chose practically every combo possible. LOL!!! You gutless wimp. HA HA HA!!

          • Laker Rod

More distortions. I simply said Jerry N. performed better in the scrimmage. The youtube vids proved this. You never once disputed this. I didn’t saw he “threw” better. You’re just making up more lies as usual. There were others who made the same observations about the spring scrimmage.

And you were wrong about Rosen. You claimed it was possible for UCLA to go 10-2 and win a conference championship. LOL!!! Talk about delusional. I told you there was no way UCLA was winning. I was right…you were wrong.

I told you UCLA would lose 2 of their first 3 games. You had to even admit you lost this.

I told you you UCLA would not beat USC if it came down to the divisional title. I was right. You were WRONG.

          • 88 Straight

Lying again. You have no shame to your game. You said Jerry threw it better, played better and should be the starter. More great analysis on your part.

And the rest are simply more lies and distortions of what I have posted. There can be no reasonable discussion with someone that can’t read, can’t remember and can’t tell the truth.

          • Laker Rod

The only liar is you and you know it. I don’t make stuff up like you do. All the evidence is here if you look it up.

I repeat….even if you though it was “possible” shows how dumb you are. I was right. Admit it. I clearly told you UCLA was not going to win any Pac-12 championship. I was right.

I clearly told you UCLA would lose 2 of it’s first 3 conference games. I was right and you even had to admit it.

I told you UCLA would lose to USC if it came down to the division title. You tried to argue against this. YOU were WRONG and you know it. I clearly beat you in every single one of these debates.

This is of course why you have to make the “wife” comments and stuff. LOL!! I repeat..you are an embarrassment to UCLA.

          • 88 Straight

Again, you don’t understand the word possible. It just shows your lack of success and no understanding of exceeding your own expectations. Clearly you never have exceeded anyone’s expectations or you would understand what possible means.

You simply don’t know what words mean. Time for a tutor.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! Listen to yourself Ms No Backbone. Hey Jellyfish…why don’t you take a real stand. Saying it “was possible” UCLA could go 10-2 and then saying they could go 6-6 or 8-4 or whatever…isn’t making predictions. You’re just a spineless blob and you know it.

I repeat…that fact you even thought it was “possible” UCLA could go 10-2 and win a conference championship with true frosh Josh Rosen shows how uneducated you are. Even after all the evidence I provided you related to true frosh struggling you still lived in denial. I asked you to provide past examples. You couldn’t produce any and you know it. I kept telling you…you’re just relying on blind faith.

In the end…YOU WERE PROVEN WRONG. You got slaughtered as usual.

          • 88 Straight

You wanted Neuheisel. 2-10. Enough said, loser mentality.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! You got called out and you know it. JELLYFISH. HA HA HA!!!!!!

          • 88 Straight

Nice try, Junior. You simply don’t understand that actually have to pick someone to play, not just someone NOT to play. It’s not enough to just say don’t play a true freshman, there has to be an actual choice and an actual solution. Your answer? Jerry Neuheisel.

You do a great job on lists though. It comes from a career or working with fast food menus!

          • Laker Rod

            Spineless jellyfish. LOL!!

Look dummy. I already told you it was pointless to play Rosen because he wasn’t going to win anything as a true frosh and he would have one less year to do anything. Andrew Luck redshirted…right? Harbaugh did way better in his 4th year than Mora. LOL!!! Stanford was way worse too. Give it up. Jellyfish.

          • 88 Straight

We know that. You would rather go 2-10. It’s fully understood how comfortable you are with losing. It’s all you know.

          • Laker Rod

2-10. LOL!!! You’re so full of nonsense. You even tried to change your 2-10 record also when I called you out on it JELLYFISH.

UCLA still has no conference championships even after playing true frosh Josh Rosen. Are you going to claim UCLA will win it in 2016? Come on…give us more of that…”it’s possible” deal. LOL!!! JELLYFISH.

          • NYC Bruin

UCLA played UVA, UNLV and BYU to open the year, they went 3-0, please try and keep your facts straight.

          • Laker Rod

            Wow. Real tough competition.

            UVA went 4-8.
            UNLV 2-11. LOL!!!
BYU 9-4…they didn’t beat anybody worth noting except Nebraska on the hail mary pass…same Nebraska team UCLA lost to in the bowl game. LOL!!

            Want to get away?

          • NYC Bruin

“I told you UCLA would lose 2 of their first 3 games. You had to even admit you lost this.” Your exact words from above, get your facts straight.

          • Laker Rod

It was conference games and 88 Straight knows it himself. All you try to do is nitpick on issues. It’s proven. That’s all you’re good for.

          • NYC Bruin

And there it is, the reason you have a job and I have a career, the reason I understand basic grammar and you communicate at an elementary level. You lack such scruples, which brings into question everything you say. You lack such attention to detail that it is hard to have anything other than a mudslinging exchange with you. Clipper Rosen Jack, you punk’d out of a bet, FAILED to quantify parameters of your suggested amendment several times and your basic intellectual laziness has made us all a little dumber. For the final time…Class dismissed.

          • Laker Rod

Dumb as usual. You know what was being discussed. You even had to admit I called it right about the first 2 of 3 conference games.

You’ve lost every single debate. You’re an embarrassment to UCLA. Go to New Mexico where the Alfords belong like you said.

          • NYC Bruin

Embarrassment to UCLA? The tax write-off I got for my donation to the Wasserman Center is more than you’ll make in 10 years, keep doing you though. Make parameters or change your handle loser.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! Look at what Eric Kendricks did his rookie year. Are you even willing to go out on a limb and claim Myles Jack can do the same? In other words…if Jack is taken in the 1st rounder…Jack obviously has to be a starter…right? Jack doesn’t necessarily have to win conference Rookie of the Year honors but he certainly should play at a high level similar to that of Kendricks. Is this so hard for you to accept? Come on wimp. You’re a jellyfish with no backbone just like 88 Straight.

You talk all tough claiming Jack will be taken in the first round but yet you won’t even commit like he would play like a 1st rounder. LOL!!!

          • NYC Bruin

Finally parameters, so to be clear, I win the bet if MJ is selected in the first round, is a starter and produces similar to EK. So quantitatively speaking, MJ needs to start 12 games (EK didn’t start until week 4) have 75 tackles and have some combination of sacks, interception, forced fumbles that equal 6 (i.e., 2 sacks, 1 FF and 3 INT’s). Do you agree to these terms?

          • NYC Bruin

Two days and no response to actual deal terms. Where are you Clipper? Chicken?

          • Laker Rod

It’s two day for you CHICKEN. You’re gutless. It’s proven. Go ahead and claim Jack will reach the expectations for a 1st rounder. WIMP.

          • 88 Straight

Another non answer. Off topic. Keep typing. Your fake wife doesn’t mind.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!! You think you know more than Jim Mora. LOL!!! And all 32 GM’s don’t think Jack is a 1st rounder. Seriously…all the LIES you make up are ridiculous.

Why would Ish Adams be a 1st rounder? The dude is 5’8. He’s still one of the better defensive backs UCLA has though.

Make some sense with the questions you ask. SMH

          • NYC Bruin

Hiding, from you Clipper? Please, I actually have things to do on Friday and Saturday nights, unlike you, which is understandable. The players I listed were either pro-bowlers, sure fire hall of famers and EK. You said that his measurable weren’t good, I debunked that point plane and simple. DEAL WITH IT. Also, do you know what the word redundant means?

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! More distortion by you. We were discussing commodity value. Remember? You tried to side step the point and start nitpicking with “hot” and “high” Talk about lame.

You provided examples of linebackers whom many were not even drafted in the first round. You just proved my point dummy. OMG. Talk about making a complete FOOL of himself. LOL!!!

And on top of this…you think you know more than Jim Mora about the NFL draft. LOL!!! HA HA HA!!!

          • NYC Bruin

You think you know more than 32 NFL GM’s, all which no there is no such thing as a “high” commodity.

          • Laker Rod

I’ll trust Jim Mora with his past experience in the NFL and what he said. The 32 NFL GM’s mean nothing. Not all of them think Myles Jack is 1st round material and you know it.

            I repeat…YOU HAVE LOST

          • NYC Bruin

How, because you said? I win the moment MJ’s name is called in the first round of the NFL at which point you will be the loser of this wager. DEAL WITH IT.

          • Laker Rod

Can’t address what was pointed out to you…can you. You claiming 32 NFL GM feel Jack’s a 1st rounder. Talk about distortion at it’s finest. Well? Care to answer? Exposed as usual which is why you skip over it.

And you don’t win if MJ’s name is called in the 1st round. He has to play like a 1st rounder in order to justify it all. I repeat…if you’re so confident that Myles Jack is 1st round material…then why do you struggle committing and boldly stating he will play like a 1st rounder. Well? Seems like you are stuck.

You care to comment on the NFL combine results. Myles Jack placed 13th in the bench press with 19 total reps. BJ Goodson did 30 reps. Raphael Kirby did 27 reps. Blake Martinez and Scooby Wright tied for 5th at 22 reps.

No 40 yard dash, no vertical jump, no broad jumb, no 3 cone drill, and 20 yd shuttle, and no 60 yd shuttle for Myles Jack.

          • NYC Bruin

I have consistently said I am glad to make that part of the wager if you can come up with quantitative parameters, you’ve had my answer, where’s yours.

With that being said, he only came in 13th in the bench at the underwear Olympics? He is clearly destined for failure and is possibly a drug user (sarcasm font). Your analytical process is as limited as anyone I have communicated with since grade school.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!! Bypassing the question yet again. You claimed 32 NFL GM’s feel Myles Jack is a 1st rounder. Care to admit your error? Come on. Fess up.

And you still can’t accept the proper bet. I repeat…what are you so afraid of. Why can’t you boldly claim Jack will play like a 1st rounder. It’s obvious. IT’S BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOu ARE WRONG. You do not have confidence yourself Jack is 1st round material. All you have to save your PRIDE is that Jack will somehow be taken in the 1st round by some stupid GM and you know it. Even Jim Mora said it’s risky for Jack to come out early like this. Wake up.

And love how once again try to sweep Jack’s only results from the combine under the rug. You try to distort the picture once again saying he’s clearly destined for “failure”. LOL!!! Are you for real? Jack only doing 19 reps only further jeopardizes his chances of becoming a 1st rounder. Come on. Fess up. You’re getting slaughtered.

          • Laker Rod

The only person more lame than you is 88 Straight. You got slaughtered in this debate about Myles Jack and you know it.

          • NYC Bruin

I’m so lame, yeah, I am the one a message board late on a Friday and Saturday night.

          • Laker Rod

You can’t be serious. You don’t read very carefully or research. Read below. Mora’s position is the same as mine. Care to admit you are wrong?. 88 won’t admit it. I know he’s read through the article. Dude is simply in denial. Are you in the same group?

From Bleach Report article dated Jan 13, 2016. Quotes from Jim Mora:

“He’s taking his chips and shoving them into the middle, and we hope
he draws a good hand,” Mora told reporters Tuesday. “I think it’s risky to do this. Having been on that side, there’s going to be a lot of
speculation as to what he is and where he fits. And as I told Myles on
Sunday, NFL teams are very, very conservative, and if there’s any
question whatsoever, they’ll pass on you in a heartbeat…

“If he played all year, I was thinking that we would (not have him
next year), but when you only play in three games and that’s all the
tape they have of you your junior year. … I’ve been in 25 draft rooms,
and I’ve never seen a guy taken off of that ever. I worry about that
            for him.”

          • NYC Bruin

You are literally taking a single Bleacher Report article written by a guy whose profile says, “Although my goal is to become a scout in the NFL, I also enjoy working in student services at the university level.” You are basing an entire thesis based on an intern’s opinion. Why don’t you do your research and as I do every time you say something, you should learn to
            consider the source.

          • Laker Rod

Lame. There are direct quotes from Jim Mora you loser. Only shows the level you will go to. You and 88 Straight are two of a kind. What’s the matter. You admitted you were wrong about Ish Adams. You tried to correct me saying I was wrong and you claimed Ish Adams was from the 2013 class…you then had to swallow your pride and admit he was indeed from the 2012 class like I originally stated.

Come on. Just admit you overlooked what Jim Mora said and admit that Myles Jack isn’t a sure fire 1st rounder. I wouldn’t pick him in the 1st round. You would? You can’t even get yourself to boldly state Myles Jack will play like a 1st rounder.

There are too many questions marks with Myles Jack. Period. Admit it.

At least try to convince me with solid evidence as to why Myles Jack should be a 1st rounder. You can’t because there isn’t any. I can list out probably 10.

            1. Read what Jim Mora said. He’s been in the game long enough as an NFL coach. Jack only played 3 games his last year. Not enough film.

            2. Leaving early as a junior and quitting school and on his team early. Didn’t even stay for the entire year. Proves how selfish he is.

            3. Being kicked off the field in spring practice with a team captain yelling at Myles Jack to get out of here as Jack only thinks about himself.

            4. Not having the proper measurables. Only 6’1.

            5. LB of his type is not a position of value. Why take in 1st round when you can get same caliber in later rounds.

            6. Uncertainty pertaining to his injury.

            7. Committed so many penalties all through his career which kept so many drives alive.

            8. Never proved he can be a pass rusher

            9. Does not shed blocks well.

            10. Makes plenty of misreads shown on the video where he got sucked in and let a tight end beat him down the field for 40 yards. It’s not the only misread he has had.

            11. If Jack is so good then why did the UCLA defense struggle often.

            12. There is no player like Myles Jack who has been taken in the 1st rounder recently. Name me a true junior LB who’s coming off injury who got picked in the 1st round. You won’t find one who’s only 6’1. Find me one who played for a mediocre defense too.

So now…go ahead and try to list all the positives for Myles Jack and why he should be a 1st rounder. LOL!!!

          • NYC Bruin

Okay Clipper Rosen Jack, I’ll bite. First, we already discussed you calling me a loser earlier and considering you go to blogs to vent on Friday nights and still, clearly haven’t figured out the comma, its probably a stretch for you to call me a loser. Second, I was wrong on Ish Adams, I also owned it and admitted it, but we’ve also been over this, I corrected you on about 10 things over two posts and all you have to say is “lame, deal with it and lol”, just out of curiosity, did you get above 400 on the verbal / reading section of your SAT? Jim Mora said those thing in one press conference and he will probably never repeat them. I know Jim personally and I think he is a great guy and a pretty good coach, but he can be emotional, that press conference was more of an indictment on Mora than Jack.

Now addressing your other points: let me scream it from the highest mountain Clipper, Myles Jack will go in the first round, book it, lock it in, as you would say “deal with it”. Now to your list and speaking of lists, you really must love Bleacher Report.

            1. Already addressed Mora. MJ started for two years prior, there is enough film, he wouldn’t be getting hyped as a top 10 pick if there wasn’t.

            2. The NFL is a big boy business, people are selfish, grow up. Michael Jordan is selfish, Kobe is selfish, Peyton Manning is selfish. This isn’t a Disney movie, most great athletes share this trait.

            3. Redundant to point 2.

            4. Here is a list of NFL linebackers, both past and present that are 6’1 or shorter: Ray Lewis, Eric Kendricks, James Harrison, Elvis Dumervil, Thomas Davis, NaVorro Bowman, Bobby Wagner and Lavonte David. I knew the first three guys off of the top of my head, the last 5 played in the Pro Bowl this year, I guess being 6’1 or shorter isn’t such a big deal after all.

            5. You and an intern at BR are literally the only two people on the planet that have this opinion.

            6. It’s football, everyone has uncertainty due to injuries.

            7. This might be your only legitimate point.

            8. Was never asked to be a pass rusher, he is a sure tackling linebacker that has the ability to go sideline to sideline and is also capable of playing corner back and shutting down a NFL level receivers.

            9. You are making this is up, it is not true. Playing fast and loose with the facts is a habitual problem for you.

            10. Players make misreads, it happens. When you start as a true freshman, it will happen a lot. Funny, I thought you said he doesn’t have enough tape?

            11. UCLA had a strong defense until Jack got hurt. Again, try to remember that you are entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts. Hypothetically though, under this logic Anthony Davis is a bad basketball player, because the Pelicans suck.

            12. Seriously? Name me a player with the same parameters who was a bust and I will gladly concede the point to you.

Lastly, you keep saying he is not a sure thing, name a sure thing from this draft class.

          • Laker Rod

You didn’t correct me on anything. The only thing you pointed out was that Kevin Craft didn’t start against UW and came in as a sub but yet he still led UCLA to victory which proved my case even further. And as far as your comments I have a response for every single one of them:

            1. That’s not addressing Jim Mora. NFL teams look at the last season for a reason. It’s about what have you done for me lately. Jack as a true frosh was 225 not 245. Even his soph year he was more like 230. Both those years he had Eric Kendricks. As a true frosh, UCLA had Barr, Kendricks, and Zumwalt. Heck…Jack was the 4th best LB and yeah he looked good as a true frosh because look at what he had around him. He had a chance to show stuff to see if he could be the man. He didn’t come through. UCLA didn’t play anybody the 1st 3 games. Stanford would have steamrolled him also and you know it.

            2. Jordan and Kobe were not selfish like the way Myles Jack was. Give an example where a team captain yelled at them and told him them to get out of here and they complied. Nobody backed up Myles Jack because he was flat out wrong. The comments of “all you do is think about yourself” shows a historical problem. Get your head out of the sand. You’re just in denial.

            3. Right back at you.

            4. LOL! Your examples only prove my point. James Harrison was an undrafted free agent out of college in 2002. Kendricks was a 2nd rounder. Amazing how feed information which only proves my point. Why take Myles Jack in the 1st round if you can get the same caliber in later rounds? Thomas Davis was a safety in college also and was a blitzer/pass rusher. He was an All America after his junior year which he completed the ENTIRE year. Lavonte David 2nd rouner. No need to go further. It’s obvious your examples are all flawed and only prove my case.

            5. WRONG. Jim Mora also has the same opinion.

            6. WRONG. Anthony Barr or other LB’s taken in the 1st round were not coming off a torn meniscus where they only played 3 games of their junior year. Wake up.

            7. Yeah…Jack did commit a lot of stupid penalties.

            8. LOL! Was never asked to pass rush. It was something they talked about after this true frosh year when he didn’t have many. He said those would pick up. It didn’t. The bottom line is that there is no film in all 2 seasons and 3 games to go off of.

            9. Making up Jack doesn’t shed blocks well? LOL!!! It’s mentioned in the Bleacher Report article with video evidence. Explain UCLA’s poor rush defense. Jack was taken out of plays many times. The best thing Jack did was pass coverage and Jack was fast stopping a running back from going outside.

            10. There were multiple bad reads from Jack. It there were not the UCLA D would have been better than it was. There is enough film to shows he struggles. There doesn’t seem to be enough film to offset these concerns. Come on. Make some sense.

            11. UCLA didn’t have a strong defense. UCLA didn’t even play anybody special. They were all weaker teams struggling in their own right.

            12. LOL!!! Backpedaling by you. This debate isn’t about Myles Jack being a BUST. Hilarious how you try to twist this debate around. This debate is about does Myles Jack deserve to be a 1st rounder.

You have proven NOTHING that he deserves to be a 1st rounder. Even the pro LB’s you mentioned who are now doing well…many were NOT 1st rounders themselves and they didn’t have the discipline issues like Jack or were not coming off injury like Jack, etc.. So I repeat…why take Jack in the 1st round. Do you now understand “devalued commodity”.

Give it up. You have lost and you know it. I repeat…with all the negatives related to Myles related to discipline, historical negative type selfishness, and injury…they would be offset if Jack was 6’4 255 with 4.5 speed and was a true proven all around linebacker. Pass rush, shedding blocks, closing speed, pass coverage, etc. He’s not all of these.

          • NYC Bruin

Then why is going to be a 1st round pick? Also, name “sure thing”.

          • Laker Rod

You’re so dumb. Josh Rosen ended up starting as a true frosh and I told everybody that this wouldn’t end up well for UCLA in 2015. I was vindicated and proven right.

We already discussed there are plenty of dumb NFL scouts out there. Look at who took Manziel.

The best is Jack needs to be a 1st rounder and play like a 1st rounder. You can’t even commit yourself to this you wimp. If you’re so confident that Jack deserves to be a 1st rounder…how come you don’t commit? Chicken? LOL!!! HA HA HA HA!!!!!! What a tool!!! LOL!!!!

          • NYC Bruin

First of all, it is a “bet” not a “best”, your lack of scruples is truly staggering. Second, love the internet muscles, they look good on you big guy. Third, I have asked numerous times for you to quantify how we can judge whether or not he plays like a first rounder? You still won’t answer the question. Last, I am not saying Jack deserves to be a first rounder, he will be a first rounder.

The fact that you use the word deserves, when it comes to where someone will drafted and you hate the notion of young talent overtaking more senior mediocrity tells me you’ve been marginalized in life.

    • Laker Rod

Let’s see if Myles Jack can prove that he’s 1st round material on the field. That was the point. There are plenty of dumb GM’s out there and you know it. Put up or shut up. That was the bet. You chickened out.

      • 88 Straight

Back pedal. You said he was going in the 2nd round. Now trying to change it to a dumb GM. It’s simple. If Myles goes in the 1st round, you are simply wrong. Very clear. I think you are plucked, Mr. Chicken!

        • Laker Rod

There is no back pedal. Follow along what Jim Mora said about Myles Jack. Deal with it. You’re such a mule head. So stubborn and you get humiliated every time. You have lost every single debate and you know it.

          • NYC Bruin

When you say “deal with it” after you make an erroneous point, does it make you think you are more right?

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! What’s the matter? Can’t answer about what Jim Mora said? You’re just like 88 Straight. Both of you two never do enough research and understand what’s really going on and you make FOOLS of yourself each time.

Come on. Address what Jim Mora said about Myles Jack. Don’t try to worm your way out of this one too.

          • 88 Straight

You are the biggest dummy and coward here. Trying to forget your own comments about Jack not being a first rounder. We all know what Mora said. Mora probably still stands behind his remarks. You, on the other hand, are backing away from your own remarks at warp speed!

          • Laker Rod

Lame. Totally knew you couldn’t answer about Mora’s comments on Myles Jack and the risk he’s taking. You had no previous knowledge to it and you know it. Don’t try to worm your way out of this one also.

All you tried to do was say this reporter from Bleacher Report didn’t know what he was talking about but yet he provides video evidence related to concerns with Myles Jack. He even provides direct quotes from Mora expressing his concerns.

All you do along with NYC is just go off of some no knowledge reporter who doesn’t even provide any basis for his support.

I have not backed away from anything. I’ve stated my case as to why Myles Jack doesn’t deserve to be a 1st rounder IMO. You can’t even dispute any of it.

You and NYC can’t even get yourself to bet that Myles Jack will play like a 1st rounder. Chicken! Talk about back pedaling. LOL!!

          • NYC Bruin

Funny, your BR “reporter” and I use the term loosely, since he actually works in “student services” seem to be the only two people who think MJ isn’t worthy of being a 1st round pick. It is also curious how neither of you are paid to analyze football players.

          • Laker Rod

Ducking the point yet again? Chicken/duck what’s the diff. LOL!! Jim Mora doesn’t agree with your point. That’s better than any of you two bozos have. LOL!!

          • 88 Straight

You’re leaving skid marks everywhere going in reverse. What a coward! You said Myles Jack was going in the 2nd round. You don’t even have the honesty to own up to that one! Little Fraudney can’t stick to anything. You got hammered and now you are backing down. The problem is, you identify much more with mediocre players. It’s why you don’t like Rosen and Jack. You can’t stand actual talent. You prefer Brehaut and Woulard. You put down Jack. What a jealous little troll….and then you don’t have the huevos to even admit what has been crystal clear. You said that Myles Jack isn’t good enough to go in the 1st round!

          • Laker Rod

Still can’t address what Jim Mora said? LOL!!! Come on. Give it up.

          • 88 Straight

We are focused on what YOU said. You are trying to get as far away from that as you can! BACK PEDAL!! What you are is a Cowardly Lyin!

          • Laker Rod

Still can’t address what Jim Mora said? LOL!!! Want to get away?

          • 88 Straight

            I did. You can’t read.

And you are running away from your own words. Here is your multiple choice question:

            Myles Jack is drafted in..
            A. First round.
            B. Second round.

            Simple.

          • NYC Bruin

What are you, an airline spokesmen?

      • NYC Bruin

Yes Clipper Rosen Jack, you and your Bleacher Report Intern know more than NFL GM’s when it comes to talent evaluation. I offered a plane and simple bet that he would be a first rounder, you replied by saying he has to “play” like a first rounder? If you can offer me quantitative metrics for how to determine that, then fine, if not, stick to the initial bet.

        • Laker Rod

In that article are quotes directly from Jim Mora. Deal with it. It will be interesting to see what you come back with. Don’t disappear for a few days again. LOL!!!

          • NYC Bruin

How about you answer my question about a quantitative solution, because you don’t want to stand behind your original claim, that Myles Jack wouldn’t go in the first round. Keep trolling.

          • Laker Rod

LOL!!! Switching subjects. What’s the matter? Can’t respond to what Jim Mora said about Myles Jack? Too easy. Simply too easy to slaughter you.

  • Richard

Jack is so clearly the best LB/ (FB player) seen out West here, in many years. The fastest LB at c. 240lb EVER and the most versatile player and play maker in recent memory Dallas or SF ??

  • He used to be my idol <3

  • The Big Woof!

I may not be an ‘expert’ like this Maycock guy, but I saw Myles Jack be pretty much as physical as possible since his first game. Maybe Maycock is related to Mel Kiper, the expert who’s usually as wrong as can be about future pros.

    • You seem to be right about this statement.

    • Your ideas are good, mate. I love the way you mentioned it. Pros and cons are what we need to know.
