The UCLA softball team ended its season Saturday with an 8-4 loss to Florida State at the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. The Bruins took a lead in the first inning off a grand slam from Mysha Sataraka, but were shut out the rest of the way.

It’s the first time in UCLA’s 26 WCWS appearances that the Bruins failed to win a game. They finished at 40-15-1 for the season.

UCLA was the only Pac-12 team in the WCWS after knocking off conference champion Oregon in the Super Regional. UCLA won 31 of its final 38 games entering the World Series. The team’s back-to-back losses to open the World Series were its first consecutive losses since dropping two to Washington on March 23 and 24.
