Former UCLA football player Robert Wilkinson passed away at 88

Former UCLA end Robert Raymond Wilkinson passed away Monday at the age of 88 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease, the UCLA athletics department announced Thursday. Wilkinson set records for touchdowns and recieving yards in a season while earning first-team All-Pacific Coast honors in the 1949 and 1950 seasons.

The three-time letter winner set or tied nine conference or UCLA records in total, including the most touchdown receptions in conference games in a season (8) and the UCLA records for most catches and receiving yards in a season (27 catches, 556 yards in 1949). In 1949, he caught 10 touchdowns, which set an NCAA record and stood as the school record for more than  40 years.
