UCLA tries for first win over Stanford in Mora era

UCLA head coach Jim Mora has yet to record a single win against Stanford. He’ll get his sixth try in five years Saturday. Below is a look at some of the key stats from UCLA’s matchups with the Cardinal in the Mora era, including yardage, sacks and time of possession.uclastanford

The closest game was the 2012 Pac-12 Championship Game. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that in that matchup, UCLA created a pass rush (three sacks) and kept the time of possession almost even (28:45 for UCLA to 31:15 to Stanford). The Bruins haven’t sacked a Cardinal quarterback since that game.

The rushing yards seemed to be key for the Bruins in the championship game. It was the only game of the five during the Mora era that UCLA outgained Stanford on the ground. UCLA is going to need a much more productive night from its running backs Saturday than it got against BYU when the Bruins came away with only 50 rushing yards.

Stanford and Oregon are the only Pac-12 schools Mora hasn’t recorded a win against. He is 0-2 against the Ducks.
