New quarterback, same old problems for the UCLA offense. Perhaps “struggle” isn’t even a word that can accurately describe the UCLA’s attempt at a running game anymore. The Bruins barely have any running game to speak of after rushing for 43 yards against Washington State on Saturday.
The defense again tried to carry the load, but couldn’t contain WSU’s offense enough. Head coach Jim Mora praised his defense for its grit, which he credited with keeping the Bruins in each of these past five games.
Linebacker Kenny Young said he regularly encourages the offense through its struggles, but just tries to keep doing his job on defense.
“But we can’t go out there and play,” Young said. “We did our part, but we fell short.”
