UCLA lit a few early fireworks against USC, but — like its hopes for the season — fizzled quickly.

Barring a win next week at Cal and an NCAA exemption based on APR, the Bruins are not going bowling this season for the first time since 2010. The optimism of training camp never felt further for the team as it sulked out of the Rose Bowl on Saturday night after its second straight rivalry loss.
