Five-star recruit Jaelan Phillips is only a few weeks away from enrolling at UCLA, but before he comes to Westwood, the Redlands East Valley defensive end earned another high honor. He was named USA Today’s California Defensive Player of the Year on Wednesday. Phillips is slated to enroll early before joining the Bruins for spring camp.
Sierra Canyon offensive lineman Kanan Ray, another UCLA commit, was named to the second-team offense.
