UCLA grabs early 2019 defensive back commit

UCLA hasn’t quite sewn up its 2017 class yet, but the Bruins have a very early commit for the class of 2019.

St. John Bosco defensive back Chris Steele announced a commitment to UCLA on Monday, two days before the Bruins are set to sign their 2017 class. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back just finished his sophomore season at St. John Bosco with 81 total tackles and one interception, according to Max Preps.

While Steele acknowledged that his pledge is very early, so it can be taken with many grains of salt, he has old ties to UCLA. He wrote on Twitter about his former youth football coach Bruce Walker, a former UCLA defensive lineman who introduced Steele to the Bruins.
