Four-star safety Cam’ron Jones announced his commitment to UCLA on Friday via Twitter, becoming the program’s fifth verbal commit for the class of 2018.
Jones, a 6-foot, 185-pound prospect from Mansfield High, is the No. 8 safety in Texas, according to Scout.com. He also had offers from schools including Baylor, Colorado, Minnesota and Oklahoma.
The Bruins didn’t sign any safeties in its 2017 class, but Jones is UCLA’s second for the 2018 group, joining Jhevon Hill. UCLA also has verbal commits from offensive lineman Blake McDonald, athlete Isaiah Johnson and defensive lineman Aaron Maldonado.
