QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson commits to UCLA

Heading into what could be Josh Rosen‘s final year in college, UCLA secured a big quarterback pledge Sunday as Bishop Gorman’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson announced his commitment to the Bruins.

Despite having never started a game at quarterback, Thompson-Robinson is still a sought-after recruit. The 6-foot-2, 194-pound quarterback sat behind now-Ohio State freshman Tate Martell for the past two years, but is still a four-star prospect according to ESPN, Scout.com and Rivals. ESPN ranks him the third-best dual-threat quarterback in the country and Rivals has him second.

Thompson-Robinson picked UCLA over Michigan while also having Pac-12 offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Oregon and Utah. Tennessee, Alabama and Florida State were also among the suitors for Thompson-Robinson.

Thompson-Robinson is UCLA’s eighth verbal commitment for the class of 2018. The Bruins also have pledges from safeties Jhevon Hill and Cam’ron Jones, offensive lineman Blake McDonald, athlete Isaiah Johnson, defensive lineman Aaron Maldonado, wide receiver Kyle Phillips, and running back AJ Carter.
