The UCLA softball team went undefeated at the NCAA Los Angeles Regional this past weekend to advance to the Super Regional. After a regional-championship-clinching victory over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, the Bruins advanced to play Oregon in Eugene, Ore., in a three-game series that starts Saturday.
Other happenings around UCLA athletics
- Men’s tennis lost a close 4-3 match to Oklahoma in the Elite Eight. The second-ranked Bruins finish the year at 25-3. They came back from a 2-0 deficit and tied the match at 3-3, but lost the clincher at No. 6 singles. UCLA beat Stanford in the Sweet 16.
- Women’s golf finished in a tie for second after the first three rounds of stroke play at the NCAA championships. The top eight teams after Monday’s action advance to match play, which begins Tuesday.
- Baseball lost two of three to Arizona State in its final home series of the year. UCLA (25-28, 12-15 Pac-12) finishes the year on the road against Oregon State.
