Five-star 2016 defensive end Breland Brandt commits to UCLA

UCLA’s first loss of the season didn’t dissuade one major recruit from committing to the Bruins.

Five-star defensive end Breland Brandt announced his decision to join UCLA’s 2016 class on Sunday evening, giving the team a solid building block less than 24 hours after a 30-28 loss to Utah. The Windward School is ranked as the second-best weakside defensive end in the country by Rivals.com, and third at his position by Scout.com.

Brandt is the second Bruin commitment in his class. Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian receiver Michael Pittman — who shares a name with his father, a former NFL running back — picked UCLA on Saturday night.
