How does Jim Mora’s salary stack up in the Pac-12?
Jim Mora‘s $3.5 million salary in 2017 ranks fifth among Pac-12 coaches, according to USA Today’s annual coaching salary database, released Wednesday.
Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez vaulted to the top spot this year with a total salary of more than $6 million. The pay raise is thanks to a nearly $3.1 million retention bonus due if he remains the head coach on March 18, 2018.
Stanford’s David Shaw is the second-highest paid coach in the conference with a 2017 salary of about $5.68 million, according to federal tax returns obtained by USA Today, followed by Washington’s Chris Petersen at almost $4.13 million. Utah’s Kyle Whittingham is due to make almost $3.69 million this year.
Mora’s total salary of $3,550,000 does not include potential bonuses that can add as much as $1,065,000 to his paycheck. The database also values Mora’s buyout as of Dec. 1, 2017 at $12,275,000. Mora signed a two-year contract extension last season that links the six-year head coach to UCLA through the 2021 season.
