Former UCLA women’s soccer play Lauren Holiday, who is expecting her first child with her husband, former UCLA men’s basketball player Jrue Holiday, will undergo brain surgery later this fall on a benign tumor.

Lauren, formerly known as Lauren Cheney, was a star forward for the Bruins and was the first UCLA player to earn NSCAA/adidas First-Team All-America honors all four years of her career. She is a two-time Olympic goal medalist with the U.S. women’s national team but retired last summer to start a family.

Jrue is currently playing with the New Orleans Pelicans, but will miss time this coming season while he cares for Lauren after the birth and her surgery.
