Incoming freshman Madison Kocian helps Team USA to gymnastics gold

Incoming UCLA freshman Madison Kocian helped Team USA secure back-to-back team gold medals in women’s gymnastics on Tuesday. It’s the first medal for a UCLA athlete so far in the 2016 Olympic Games.

Kocian competed on bars in the team final and scored a 15.933 for Team USA. The United States have historically struggled on uneven bars, which made Kocian an important piece of the team’s success this year as that event is her specialty. She is scheduled to compete in the bar event final on Aug. 14.
