During Pac-12 Media Days last week, Jim Mora acknowledged the weight outside expectations — something he had spent much of last season trying to block out, albeit somewhat unsuccessfully.

“It’s hard to do, especially when you’re dealing with these young men that are so influenced by social media and have so much access to information and what is being said about them,” the UCLA coach said. “It’s hard to maintain that focus. But we’ve got to strive to do that. It’s not easy, but it’s our goal. If we can do that, we’ll be okay.”

What exactly has been the national buzz about the Bruins so far? UCLA was picked to finish third in the Pac-12 South, with just two voters slotting them as conference champions. Here’s a look at what some other sources thought.

» Like the Amway Coaches Poll, Sports Illustrated has UCLA at No. 14 in their preseason rankings.

Last year, coaches picked the Bruins as the No. 7 team in the country, while SI had them at No. 5.

» The Big Lead polled 27 media members who cover college football to get a sense of the 2015 season. A couple of interesting notes on UCLA:

— The Bruins received three votes to make the College Football Playoff. That puts them behind Ohio State (a unanimous pick with 27 votes), Auburn (18), TCU (16), Baylor (10), USC (6), Alabama (6), Oregon (5) and Notre Dame (6). Another week, another Sports Illustrated cover. Brett Hundley landed at the front of the magazine once again, this time as part of SI’s college preview.

Two weeks ago, Hundley was featured on a regional cover teasing a Lee Jenkins’ feature story — an appearance that already had teammates calling him “SI.”

The coming issue will be the 127th time that a Bruin has appeared on a Sports Illustrated cover. Other versions of this week’s SI magazine feature Ohio State’s Braxton Miller, Oklahoma’s Trevor Knight, Alabama’s Amari Cooper, and Florida State’s Jameis Winston.

Online sportsbook Bovada.lv also released odds for various college football stats this morning. Brett Hundley’s over/under stat line looks quite reasonable: 3019.5 passing yards, 604.5 rushing yards, and 33.5 combined passing and rushing touchdowns.

As a redshirt sophomore last season, Hundley passed for 3071 yards, rushed for 748, and scored 35 touchdowns — including 11 on the ground.

Brett Hundley, bringin’ it.

Brett Hundley is standing among the pros this week.

Heading into his final collegiate season, the UCLA quarterback made a regional cover of Sports Illustrated, one that teases a feature written by Lee Jenkins. The issue includes top-32 position rankings for fantasy leagues, with every other version of the magazine cover featuring an NFL running back.

The Green Bay Packers’ Eddie Lacy graces the national cover, while the Kansas City Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles and the Philadelphia Eagles’ LeSean McCoy made the two other regional covers.
