UCLA receiver Devin Fuller has accepted an invitation to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, one of several games that help players showcase themselves for pro teams.

Limited by head and ankle injuries in the latter half of his senior campaign, Fuller finished the regular season with 24 catches for 259 yards and three touchdowns. That included a career performance against Cal, in which he had seven receptions for 100 yards and two scores. He was also on the receiving end of quarterback Josh Rosen’s first career touchdown, a four-yard pass in the Bruins’ season-opening win over Virginia.

Fuller showed some promise as a returner as well, totaling 552 yards on 29 tries taking back kicks and punts.

The list of the first 23 players slated to play in the NFLPA Bowl also includes former UCLA offensive tackle Torian White, who transferred to Hampton. White was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on Nov. 17, 2013 and never rejoined the team. UCLA dismissed him from school entirely in May 2014, after the university found him responsible for two instances of sexual misconduct.

Offensive tackle Torian White dismissed from UCLA football team

UCLA has dismissed offensive lineman Torian White, head coach Jim Mora announced today.

White was arrested on Nov. 17 on suspicion of sexual assault, and remains under investigation despite being released from jail three days later. He had been suspended indefinitely since then.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound tackle started four games last season before a leg injury, and also started 14 games as a redshirt freshman in 2012. The Bruins started three true freshmen on the offensive line after also losing tackle Simon Goines to a leg injury, but dropped its sacks allowed from 52 (in 2012) to 36.

VIDEO: Adrian Klemm talks Xavier Su’a-Filo’s draft decision, state of offensive line

— Bowl practices have become almost like an extra training camp, which helps an offensive line that has been juggled around through the season. Individual sessions have been bumped up from 10 minutes to about 30 minutes per practice.

— Judging from what offensive line coach Adrian Klemm said Friday, junior guard Xavier Su’a-Filo could likely be on an NFL roster this time next year. The All-American is still waiting for his evaluation to come back from the NFL draft advisory board to help him decide whether or not to declare early.

“He knows what I think about it,” the assistant coach said. “You come here to have success after you’re done here. If that’s one year earlier, he needs to go ahead and do that. I don’t want to hold him back from it. I want to see him do well. …

“There’s not much more he can accomplish in terms of accolades. He can sharpen up some things, but if he comes out and he’s the first or second guard taken, I think it’s a no-brainer.” Continue reading “VIDEO: Adrian Klemm talks Xavier Su’a-Filo’s draft decision, state of offensive line” »
