Honoring "Upland's Own"

| | Comments (1) |

Dubbed "Upland's own" the city council on Monday recognized the U.S. Army Reserves 315th Psychological Operations Company which will be deployed to Iraq later on this month.
The reserve unit is headquatered at the armory in Upland.

Councilman Ken Willis who led the recognition of the soldiers said this was the second time the city had adopted a unit, the last was during World War II.
At the meeting the council recognized 10 families who have relatives serving in the military. The family members were given Blue Star banners. The council also recognized several businesses in town who helped sponsor a soldiers ball and equipment for the 315th Psychological Operations Company.
Willis closed out the recognitions by reading a prayer for the soldiers.

Upland-- "Game Day," a tournament fundraiser for two local charities will be held on Sept. 10. The event will start at Sierra Lakes Golf Club in Fontana, where participants will play nine holes of golf, from there the players will head to Dave & Busters for a billiards and darts tournament.
